There's nothing much we can do about the violence of some people. Just be as kind and helpful as you can in life to try and outbalance the evil.

Yes, but there is still hope as long as people try to open other peoples eyes. At least, one or two rattlesnake events changed their mind and don't kill rattlesnakes anymore. My biggest dream is that Sweetwater will do the same. After I saw picture of it... it was a horror.  I cried more than four days.
There is an alternative event to show that you can learn about these animals without killing them.

Believe it or not, I contacted one of the Rattlesnake Roundup organisators. Do you know, what he wrote when I asked him what he is thinking about Rattlesnake Roundups? He wrote, that it would be a good chance to elucidate about rattlesnakes. How sick is that?!   To teach people (including children!) to hate and to kill anmials is the most pathological thing what a human can teach.

What a loser that man is. I hope he dies from a snake bite. It will be sweet justice. He probably has a lame life and feels like a big man when he kills small animals. It's sad that our specie is such a mix of love and evil.

Indeed. I hurt me terribly if some people are talking like that. Other people hate snakes (especially venomous snakes) so much, that they are laughing when a snake got hurt or dies. Other people hate them because one of their family died because of a snake bite. But to kill after that all snakes is a stupid way. It is not their fault that they are venomous and behave like animals always do. But humans can choose between good and bad, and what some humans do is sadistic, if they enjoy to harm an animal. It is also a hard situation in Florida that Burmese pythons landed there and eat a lot of other animals. People who are living there are allowed to kill them as many as they could, also the goverment asked for more intensive methods. I read a little article about that in Germany's reptile magazine "Reptilia". Not sure what they wrote exactly, but it was like, there is also no reason to demonize them. But it is very difficult, because the most people are afraid of snakes, regardless of whether venomous or not. Snakes seem to need cuter saucer eyes to have a chance. :/

I love snakes, but where I live we HAVE to kill wild rattlesnales and copperheads because they chill in your garden and bite you.

My next door neighbor's daughter died because she was bitten by a rattlesnake.  So I don't really agree with this.  Any other snake is fine, but I've been raised to hate rattlesnakes. Sorry ; - ;

By the way it's more animal friendly to catch rattlesnakes and to transport them to another place. Australian people used to do this method if they find a venomous snake in their garden. Australia has the most venomous, dangerous animals in the world, but they respect them and give them a chance to survive.
If you really are a snake lover don't raise to hate them, please. Try to find a way and give rattlesnakes and copperheads a chance.

Maybe you can ask people like Orry Martin, who wrote today this comment on facebook:

"I was walking my fence line to find Bruce for bed time. During the search, I spy this adorable southern copperhead coiled and ready for the night hunt. Most people would have immediately killed it because like me, they have a young one who walks the backyard and may be accidentally bitten. However, we value lives at my house. I caged this guy up for the night and will release him in the swamp next to my house tomorrow. If he makes his way back, I will do the same thing again. Molly will grow up respecting God's beautiful creation and learn why saving them is important."

I'm sorry honey, but I was born and raised to kill these things.  I just really hate snakes, and I protect my family.  Not the devil.

Now nonpoisonous snakes and snakes that you can keep in your house, I'm completely fine with.  But I'd chop one's head off before I got bitten.  I completely respect your opinion and I hope you respect mine.

Of course, I can just give you a good advice to find a better way.
There are better alternatives to live with these animals instead to kill them.

Goodbye.

Sorry for neighbor's daughter with my deepest, warmest condolences.

Well, you can kill animals to save yourself and your neighborhood, just in case of an attack, you can kill them in self-defense.
But in this case rattlesnakes will kill to entertain tourists.
We have no right to kill animals this way.
On Roundups, rattlesnakes will hunted for fun. Some of them die because of dehydration before they come on the slaughtering block.
Children who visit this event learn wrong principials and think, it would be okay to kill animals this way.
To kill animals for fun is and will remain unhuman.

Yes, you are right. It hurts me very deep.
At least the Rattlesnake Roundups are over this year. (sigh) But we still hope that it will come completely to an end. Someday...

But now you can visit a new Rattlesnake Festival every year. The Texas Rattlesnake Festival. No rattlesnake will be killed or harmed. The rattlesnakes will be treated well and no one is taken from wild. It's an animal friendly festival to learn about rattlesnakes. The members of Rise-against-Rattlesnakes-Roundups - Group ask for support to visit the festival and to stop Rattlesnake Roundups in this way. Good luck!
