Heaven above am I proud of this picture *o*

First of all I have to confess this was HEAVILY inspired by Zac Hanson and a picture of him holding his brand new baby girl, Lucille. Here's a link to the article which includes the picture I'm talking about.

I have met Zac several times before...I can't imagine he'd mind me using him for a reference, since he is an artist himself, and all I did was reference the posing. He and his baby girl were just TOO adorable. I simply had to try one of my sweetie Luke. The hard thing was picking which child of his to use.

I want to do a version of him with Neferine, but I started with Justice, his son from my AU.

I do try to do original posing but honestly whenever I reference the artwork just comes amazing. I could have created the reference myself but, again when I saw the picture Zac provided for the public I couldn't help myself. That said I LOVE the anatomy. The hands actually look great and I even did fingernails! I did in my last full picture but here they aren't flat. Just everything about the anatomy looks awesome to me. I was worried Luke's head was too small at first but I think it's just the fact that it's a side view...then again the hands are a bit on the biggish side...my bad XD You can blame that on anthro proportions. I also remembered to add stray hairs like Gem taught me.

The other big thing is the coloring. The hair and fur and eyes are nothing new, it's the shirt Luke is wearing and the blanket! I didn't want to go with just my usual method, but everything I was trying wasn't looking good. I finally came up with a method using the Pen tool in Paint Tool SAI and I LOVE it. I really went all out and added folds and everything. The background was random but I do like using the marble texture.

Let's see other things I love...the whites of Luke's eyes, Justice's too, and, well the coloring on the shirt! XD His expression was borrowed from an old picture I did of my characters Brooke and Cody called Waiting for the Light Child. It's from like...five years ago, but I always loved their expressions so I wanted to replicate it here.

I do plan on switching Justice for Neferine at some point, for now enjoy XD
