Second page

This page really starts the story. Right off the bat we learn what makes Akeme different; that bluish glow about him, it's because he's actually a spirit. The fact that he can kneel down in midair is another clue XP He died a tragic death, long ago, and his entire life was being brought up in the middle of a war. As such, he relishes the peace of the afterlife. He only travels now and then, as he said, for a change of scenery.

Though he doesn't know exactly what draws him to Spirit Island, he does know that the small girl, Deannalee, is special. Mind you, he's drawn to her spirit, so, no jokes about him being older and being interested in a child XP He's just drawn to her spirit in a protective sort of way. It's part of why much later when they have a son he is named Sunta-Dyllan, Guardian of Heaven, in Deannalee's language.

Now, how being drawn to the spirit of a child slowly changes into falling in love with a woman will be seen as the story changes.

In this page, we learn about Akeme and his origins, and we see him first entering Deannalee's village. As she runs up to her father, Renaldo, Akeme learns her name for the first time. Deannalee.

With the next pages we'll see more of Deannalee growing up, with Akeme following her through the days, finding joy in her joy, and later, anguish at her pain.

The page had more scenery in it. I'm actually pretty pleased with the tree line and the village shot in the panel next to it. Once again I did the sketch, lineart, and the flat color, along with the backgrounds, while Gem did the shading, and some highlights here and there, except for the eyes, which I do.
