Another one that explains itself. We've learned who Akeme is, that he's a spirit that sometimes wanders from the afterlife for a change of scenery. He was born into and raised during a war, so all he wants is peace, and the traveling he gets to see places and things that dying young denied him. One of these trips brings him to Spirit Island, where he sees Deannalee, a small girl that his spirit is drawn to protect, like a Guardian angel.

In the last page, he covered what he learned about her, her family, her friends, and her duty of having to be Guardian to their treasure, the Master Jewel, which, is the sister gem to the Master Emerald, made by the same person.

On this page, we see Deannalee starting to grow up. Seven years passes in these few panels, and we end it with her having recently turned fourteen, and, as Akeme said, growing into a beautiful young lady. Still for the moment he's only interested in watching over her, drawn to her youthful spirit.

But the look on Akeme's face at the end, as well as his words, allude to the bubble of happiness around Deannalee and the time he's spent watching her, threatening to burst. Any of you who read WoLaD will know what I mean, and if you don't, well, trust me this is where the story begins to get dark. Not only do things get darker but feelings start to bubble up, and even change, as you will soon see.

Anyway this page has a ton of Dee in it, understandably. You notice her hair style, namely the fringe, starts to change as she gets older, splitting off into more ends and such. Her outfit pretty much stays the same though; it's the dress the royals wear.

I tried many different backgrounds for this panel. I used sunsets a lot; the first panel was the one I did first, but when I did the one of older Dee it was reminiscent of when Akeme sees her sitting on the edge of the island for the first time, which was in the afternoon, so I thought a sunset backdrop would be a nice way of showing time has passed since then; it also alludes to the coming night, when things start to get dark.

In the other panels you've got the ocean view, jungle view, and then a night time panel, which was nice for Deannalee making jewelry by the fire. I made the lettering white in that one so it could be read. As for her element training the Guardians can wield all four, that is, only the Guardian WOMEN can. Any princes will have three but never all four. She's wielding fire here, because it was the one she wielded first, and thus is her strongest, closest to her personality.

In the fruit panel, Akeme mentions she likes starfruit, which is another part of her personality that is important.

Anyway, I did the sketch, writing, line art, flat color, and eye shading, while Gem did all of the rest of the shading and touches to the background and such =3
