Description Steampunk jackrabbit, because! I enjoyed the steampunk gargoyles picture, the random floating arty gears are just fun. I got to use the new circle maker I bought, too. Playing with lighting here, with the blue light coming from the sci-fi gun he's fiddling with there. Thanks to all the random steampunk stuff I wandered around and looked at on DA! I can't say I used anything real specifically for reference, just general inspiration. There is some awesome steampunk costuming around here.
Outline inked with micron .005, colored with Prismacolor pencils.
Original sold, sorry!

AWESOME! It's so intricate and well put together.

I commend you; gears are not easy, and you pulled them off very well.

Thanks! It feels like cheating when the gears clearly don't do anything, though...

I really love all the little veins in the ears The composition is nice too. The blues are a really nice touch

Thank you! The veins in his ears seemed important to a realistic look... and I'm pleased with the blue light but I feel like it would all look better with a dark background. I might revisit the theme later.

This is great! I'm building a furry fellowship hall in a steampunk area on SecondLife and I'm looking for wall art to display. Would you mind if I displayed this there, with a link back here?

Go for it! As long as there's a link back, that's wonderful! I'm honored!

OMG thank you so much!!! I don't think I've ever had anything of mine featured like this! Obviously I should do more steampunk stuff...

You can't really see the light reflections. You should have given him a black backdrop, then you could make light rays and maybe a glow from the gun.

I like the whole steampunk theme though..

I considered a black background. If it absolutely won't sell I might go back and add that in, but because it's traditional media that means killing a black marker or pencil to do it.

Nah, too fiddly around something that's already a finished work in all other respects.

Ahh - good point. Try a combination of the two? But then the colours would probabaly be out. You should try the same technique on a different picture, with black.

Maybe, possibly, if you want ... you know..

This is awesome by the way. What's the deal with this Steampunk thing anyway? Is it some new sort of " goth " trend? I think I may sort of like it if I'm understanding what I've seen of it.

Steampunk's been around for a while, since before the gothic stuff, as near as I can tell. I was familiar with it as a setting for tabletop RPG's. A lot of people would get into the idea of real working steampunk technology. Technology that does futuristic stuff using Victorian-era machinery, kind of like H.G. Well's Time Machine.
I don't know why it's having this sudden surge in popularity with more of a focus on cosplay. I just like drawing gears. Never really got into the whole thing.

Ah. Cool. I just think, from what I gathered, that it's neat. I first became aware of it a few months ago after seeing someone's version of Steampunk Star Wars action figures. I like the idea but not to the point that I wanna " join the club ".

Yeah, I feel about the same way about it. It's neat artistically, but I think my interest kind of ends there.
