Description
Part of a series that's really more visible on my Facebook wall ~ based on personal photomanipulations of very natural elements, usually found on my walks in the woods and along Purgatory
Creek in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

I love the colours and dark atmosphere! It definitely feels like you have created a 3D form with the shapes you have used.
Did you have something in mind that you wanted to create when you were manipulating the photographs? Or were you just playing around to see you could make? Either way, I really like this!

The latter. I'm totally horrid at planning anything, esp paintings. This is a very simple technique in which
I find a photo that might work. Open it in PhtoShp, dupe it, flop it, lay one layer over the other....and start playing
in the blending modes. Usually DARKEN or MULTIPLY works the best...but NOT ALWAYS. THEN...I start giving it some
modeling, shape, as if there were a modest light source. There I use of course the DODGING AND BURNING tools.
Easy Peasy....BUT remember: Most photos I reject, because they just don't produce something exciting...this one isn't too
bad. If you look through my gallery, and it's extensive, you'll find many of these sophisticated Rorschach tests.
THANKS for your comments.....
Richard

I can imagine it takes lots of experimenting but I think it's worth the effort! Thanks for explaining, it's really interesting to hear your process!

I hardly tap the possibilities of PhotoShop. But, like I
say, I like to have an original piece of art...so I try to avoid if
possible. That's just me!!!
