Description
"Before Tempest", 36"x24", oil painting. In the morning of November 5th, 1274, under the order of Kublai Khan, the emperor of the Yuan Dynasty, the Mongols invaded Japan. Their fleet first landed on Tsushima Island, which was defended by a hugely outnumbered group of 80 Japanese samurai. I chose a more neutral color palette this time, comparing to the color palette used in the previous painting "Dusk Duel". Had a feeling that my eyes needed a rest from red, orange, and hot pink, the ever sharp color combination.
