Description
COMMISSION/REQUEST LIST!So I've watched this morning Viva las legasus and Every little thing she does. The first one wasn't bad and it looks creative, specially the place, but it doesn't have an engaging story. It's something that exists and nothing else. But the next one... wow.
In october I've said that I didn't want to watch 28 pranks later because it seems to be the easiest episode to write: Rainbow Dash pranking to everyone for 20 minutes until she receives the ultimate prank. Some weeks later I decided to read the transcript and watch the screencaps of the episode that shows the story. Well, guess what: It's exactly what I thought it's gonna be. Some people would say that this is not the way to watch an episode. But, to be fair, there's nothing creative in these screencaps and the situations.
Anyway, in that comic I've said as a sarcastic comment if they are gonna do episodes like Pinkie Pie eating the ground for 20 minutes or Lesson Zero starring by Starlight Glimmer. Well, guess what: The second concept was real.
To be honest, the first thing I thought about Lesson Zero with Starlight was when I finished No Second Prances, because that episode looks like Twilight Sparkle in the season 1, where she has to learn all the things of friendship. By that time, it was just a boring idea. But, after watching this episode, who's gonna bet Starlight will turn into an alicorn? I'm saying this in another way: Who's gonna bet that Starlight will follow all the phases of Twilight she had in the seasons 1, 2 and 3?
About the episode, it's a bad one. I won't say the typical "Pinkie Pie doesn't look like Pinkie Pie" here because it's obvious she's not, but before I talk about Starlight, let's take a look at her. The unicorn has a spell that everypony can obey her. Well, in the "obey state" of Pinkie Pie she looks very creepy. I think it's obvious because she looks like a zombie. But... didn't she act the same character in almost every single episode since season 3? I mean, if you take away that spell, she doesn't look very different. I remember that in Know Your Meme I watch that gif of Pinkie Pie making cakes as quick as possible with no context and I thought that was really her. But it's a spell that makes her obey Starlight. My point is: That scene should have been much more effective if they didn't write stupid things for Pinkie, like Wonderbolts Academy, The one where Pinkie Pie knows, Cutie Map, Party Pooped or Gift of the Maud Pie.
Now let's talk about Starlight. Boy, do the writers really want us to sympathize with her. But not only it's hard to do because she is extremely powerful (like a character from Dragon Ball), but she keeps doing the same wrong decisions. "Let's brainwash some friends like I was doing to that town from season 5". It doesn't look natural and it's really hard to feel any emotion for her, which is weird because she didn't do the same spell with Trixie.
The episode is overall unpleasant. I remember in the minute 7 that creepy Pinkie Pie face happened (the one from the fourth panel) and the next thing I did was mute the video, listen to some relaxing music and keep watching the muted episode with the music on. And then there's this Fluttershy moment where she has all these worms and... it's very disturbing! I don't find these moments funny. I felt sorry for these characters. If this moment was made for something like Rick & Morty, it would work because it fits witht he style and the world of these characters. That moment doesn't fit to a show like this. I think I didn't enjoy the episode because not only it's not creative, but, for a seventh main character, I think she doesn't deserve the apologies accepted after what she have done with her friends. It's like Man of Steel, where Superman kills some innocent people and destroys Metropolis. This episode looks like the writer despise the mane 6 so he write the episode in a way everyone can be humilliated. I'm not saying it's true, but it seems to look like that.
You know? If this is what I think after watching the episode with no sound, I don't want to imagine it unmuted.
Just because there's a seventh main character doesn't make her likeable. Actions defines a character. Just because one pink pony is called Pinkie Pie doesn't make her like the same one from the old seasons.
If you really really love Starlight, you'll probably enjoy this episode. If you loved Lesson Zero to the point that you want to hear the same story again, you'll love this one. If you love overpowered characters, you'll like the episode. But if you want to see something charming, creative or new... I think you won't like the episode.
I think I'm going to be in the minority with this episode.
Welp, two episodes done. Five more to go.

I used to read screencaps of different episodes myself, but starting with "Flutter Brutter" and "Dungeons And Discords", I realized it's much better to watch the actual episodes rather than flipping through screenshots. It provides a much better experience.

Season 6 has pretty much taken down MLP a few pegs on the entertainment chart, which is weird that it got so bad so fast(I amn not saying MLP is really bad now, I am saying that it has fallen on their entertaiment value pretty much since the seasons started) since season 5 was probably one of the best three(possibly one of the best) seasons of MLP, even with the weak season finale

If you hate so much the show, as it's turning more and more horrible in your words, why are you watching anyway these and unloading your billis with every single comic you release?

Well, you know what would be awesome? A Diamond Tiara 2.0 who picks on Diamond Tiara for so long until we get another Crusaders of the Lost Mark, because you love that episode, right?

I don't hate the show (it has some great stories, even in season 6 like On your marks). I just don't like some decisions made for the writers in many episodes. Maybe they made it because they want the mainstream audience. "People love overpowered characters, so let's make Starlight an overpowered character". "Pinkie Pie was loud in A friend in deed, let's make her more annoying in the future seasons". "People love returns of beloved characters like Han Solo or Luke Skywalker, so let's prepare the return or Chrysalis, that bad guy from Daring Don't and the Flim Flam Brothers".
I'm still watching the show because maybe there's a great episode. I had that feeling since I watched Crusaders of the Lost Mark. It's a brilliant story with likeable characters, enjoyable songs and it does something new not only with Diamond Tiara, but with the cutie marks of the Crusaders. To be honest, this episode should be the standard level, but it isn't.

Ok, I respect your opinion, as it is as valid as mine for all episodes (except for the 28 pranks later, as you didn't watch and thus cannot). But the show didn't own us anything and most of your disappointment comes from you expecting things that could not happen.

Seriously, RingTeam? You think this episode is a complete rip-off of Lesson Zero? Did Starlight became ridiculous panaroic? No, she tried to fix the things in the most calm way possible. Also, I think the original Lesson Zero, had MORE cartoony facial expressions than in this episode. And don't get me start it with you comparing it with Man of Steel. *sarcasm mode* Oh yeah, because the DC Extended Universe and the current seasons of MLP are SO SIMILAR! *normal mode* But anyway, let's see how you're gonna react with the Season Finale, I bet you're gonna say it's a rip-off of Suicide Squad.

Now that I think about it, it's the opposite of each other. Twilight is messed up creating a mess while her friends are messed up being victims of the mess. Also I like the suicide squad movie.

she is like twilight in the first two seasons: terrible in social network (seriously, she passes a lot of time studying for do her own village, A LOT OF TIME) her interactions with other are poor (retake in the hearts warming eve episode, she have problems with interaction, not ontly the ambient)
If this looks very stupid, remember twilight in the winter wrap up incident in the first season, she do a lot of things, do VERY stupid things in that moment and in the end of the episode she do the correct things (to a check list, retakes all the things undone in the day and complete the winter wrap up in time)
Also, this incident remains in the season's finale

An analyst who didn't watch the actual episode CAN'T by definition do a proper analysis.
