Description This model of London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) Gresley A1/A3 Pacific (4-6-2) steam locomotive No. 4472 Flying Scotsman as British Railways locomotive No. 60103 is on display at Carnforth Station's small railway museum.  Flying Scotsman was maintained at the nearby Carnforth Depot starting in 1974, when Sir Bill McAlpine took over the Steamtown Carnforth railway museum, though it left Carnforth in 1988 to visit Australia, and after its return to Britain the famous locomotive was sent to Southall Railway Centre in London for restoration.  Steamtown Carnforth closed as a tourist attraction in 1998, but the depot still stores and maintains rolling stock for tourist train company West Coast Railways.  I wonder which depot Flying Scotsman will use as its base now that it is back in steam and pulling excursion trains around Britain.  My preference would be for "Top Shed" (London King's Cross Station) given Flying Scotsman's LNER origin, but I don't think it can maintain steam locomotives anymore.
