Ok i just saw the post on tumblr so don't wonder about this fast commentary ffpgof
But I actually have a few things to mention as I made the hook by myself once and so guess I learned somethings haha, also when this is a tutorial
1. and probably the main thing is the colour: You chose a really shiny one, as far as I can say it from the photo, maybe chose a dull more dead tone for a wooden handle, that also hase been used for how many years, I guess it will also be more darker at the ends, just look how used and old wood looks like on old benches or something
even for the ironed part of the hook i think the shiny colour is not the best thing to use as Fillan will not have any polish things he could use, a rusty or also used and eathered colur will fit better I guess??
the same is fo the leather ribbon, i used also bandages as for his fists, it looks pretty clean and fresh bought, also when you'd pull it a bit closer around the hook itself it won't slip down so easily, or rather be more useful and not soemthing you lose so often by simply falling down.
2. is the shape of the hook itself?
i'm not a real expert in marterials but i used simple fimo light and if you are detailed anough and take a bit time you can actually make a good, smooth and even surface and shape. for the wooden part you also can add some lines that immitate real wood grain

i think your hook is a good start but i see some things that could just be fixed in some simple steps u w u

Okay, can I first of all tell you that you are one of my inspirations and you just talked to me? Look at my profile, you're there. You were even in a presentation I had to do explaining the people who have inspired me. You have no idea how happy you've actually made me today. <3
And I actually am making a sequel to this because I've charcoled up and made my hook so it looks much more beaten. I also took one of my carving knives and shaped it up more. I'll call it the "Finished product" However, that won't be until I finish my cosplay (eventually) The grey is no longer light grey and it's a smuggy dark grey.
It was hard to decide how big and sharp I would make the hook? I wanted to make it so it was light enough to hold but big enough that it actually could look realistic incase I have photoshoots where I need to pose, just like those final kills. It's actually really good now too but my only problem is making a carrier on Fillian's belt for it because I have no idea how I can shape it in a way that my hook won't break.

hffffff omg i'm flattered hoi well, infact that we are only using the hooks for cosplay and photoshoots and not for actual fighting, we have the opportunity to make it ... good looking at any costs??? I mean my hook is actually not very heavy, I can carry it around even on conventions, i actually just put it unter the blue belt that is made of fabric and so soft enough ?? i mean the hilt prevents it from falling down and yea? otherwise i just carry it in my hand or my bag o.o plus oyu have the bandages to cover up any parts you needed to fix haha kjhfsk orz i actually need them so to say... no problem u wu hope it's helpful! 👍: 0 ⏩: 1
and size orientation is given on concept art and in game i meant more the actualy surface what looks a bit bumpy i guess it'd be enough to simply straighten it a bit?
i was also afraid it would just break, but it was okay with the imo i used? you have to be careful tho, but you can do it u.u
Yeah, the whole thing about Fillian's clothing is that it has all these layers and little attachments so running is a hazard because something could fall off easily. You have to make sure everything is sewn in and properly secured. Another thing is doing a wig for him would be too hard so I just got my hair cut like his instead.
But you can never forget his ascot. Ever.

mhmm well i only had problems with the belts? the rest fited pretty good at me? actually the pants i have are just so damn comfortable ´v ` it's more the binder under the shirt that gives you the feeling something doesn't fit :/
but i wanted to buy a new one anyways so..yea
what's your problem with the wig ?
fillan's hair is pretty easy to style?
if you can call it styling at all ...... i mean ... look at him..how he'd probably cut his hair by himself, too and it's all just a mess don't panic about it being not super exactly the same length everywhere or whatever you fear of doing wrong there? o-o
i mean it's good for you to have the hair but how long will you wear it like this is the question then? :/

Fillian's hair is actually pretty layered so that was my problem. That's how you get it all messed up and choppy. That and I'm terrible at cutting wigs. And I totally love his hair so I decided to get it cut just like his and it actually works out really well because I can mess it up easily.
As for wearing it, probably for a long time being the guy I am. I usually don't grow out my hair? ovo

hffff yea I got vague cosplay plans but i have to finish my a levels first before i want to attempt the next cosplay for the coming year
also i'm just ... so insecure about my height and face haaha ...
so yea i guess this will have to wait a bit orz
