Description
I keep going back to this image by Drell-7: [link] Not sure why it sticks with me, but I just find it a beautiful presentation - so much I decided to craft a TNG-era homage================
Miranda 2 Mesh by Wil Jaspers, Chaffee shuttlecraft mesh is originaly by Neco Weigland, Poser conversions by Mattymanx. Background by Frostbo. DAZ Studio render.

Is Wil Jaspers on deviantart? Thats a very beautiful ship, and I'd love to see more of his work.

Wil Jaspers? Not sure, but I rather doubt it. I haven't seen him around.

I've come up with a design for a ship like that; I've named mine the USS Plano. She's named after a city in Texas.

Is that the same town that makes the tackle boxes?

Plano is where Dr. Pepper/7-Up is based.

Well... I'm just the "render guy". But I agree - the modeler did a nice job designing that updated Reliant.

are there any penalties in case I'm calling a "shuttlecraft" just "shuttle" due to my lingual laziness?
I mean, I just wanted to know, just in case
Though however one have to call it (I had no idea there were a Terms of Service for starship naming! wow! ), it's a nice capture of a beautiful ...erm...shuttlecraft

The best render of that incarnation of USS Miranda I have ever come across. The subdued hull plating really highlights the details. Well done my friend on another masterpiece.

Hey, THANKS! I don't see many folks using this model. Not sure if it's a product of the original model or the conversion, but it renders like a real pig. I think it's something in the nacelles. This should have been about a fine-minute render, but I ended up having to let it go overnight. It's too bad as it makes me uninclined to work with this model much more.

Theres a couple of rats nests in the obj export from max that causes all sorts of issues but as the subassemblies aren't labelled in any logical system its proving a complete bitch to track the offending structures down. I think the conversion artist chose to ignore these flaws before doing the daz studio and poser imports. Doing my own conversion (to lightwave) I get the chance to fix these. Rats nests can cause the final renderer to crash as it tries to render many polys with the same spatial coordinates and normal facing.
