Description Captain's Log: The Constitution is on an approach vector for the neutron star, PSR J1116 -81. We have been receiving numerous signals that can not be of natural origin from the gas torus surrounding the pulsar. They appear modulated, but omnidirectional. We are launching a probe into the gas torus to see if we can get more data on a potential source. Our theories abound, but we need more information before we can make an educated guess about what we're facing. Needless to say we're hoping for a new contact scenario to arise here.

Thanks. Yeah, the lighting was definitely part of the image in my head on this one, with stark shadows from the bright light of the feeding pulsar.

I ask them! And they told me when you do the C&D idea they will, but until then they will not move.

NICE! I've always loved the idea of a smoke ring being an inhabitable space. I think I first came across that idea in Niven's "The Integral Trees". Love the harsh shadows and blown out lighting from the pulsar!

I just started re-reading Integral Trees, so.... no further explanation needed
