Artists are constantly repeating not only themselves but others, if not in content than in techniques. To assume that everything is original is the same as assuming that the CIA or MI9 are everywhere!

Partly correct, mostly major art styles are remakings of older ones, based on copying or reconsideration, like the Renaissance. However, I belive Scar mean it on more personal way. Narrower: One person, one artist does not repeat his own creation, like a painter does not paint the same picture two times, or a sculptor don't make the same statue again. They may create something similar but never really the same. Bytheway The styles or paths could be the same, but at the end true artist got famous because they gave something new to it. Otherwise you could call the guys who are only after money, and use copyrighted materials, plagiarism, an artist too. (sry for bad english)

Your english is actually better than most Americans, so don't apologize. And While I'll cede the point on Scar's point of view, artists do repeat themselves quite often, if you look for it.

I guess meditating about this is like meditate about colors like green: is it blue mixed with yellow, or yellow mixed with blue? It's just a point of view. For him, REAL artist doesn't repeat themselfes. However, I know that "repetitio est mater studiorum" Repetition is the mother of knowledge.
