I know it's your intention to leave the tail so white, but still I'd recommend you do a little more shading for the middle part...

I'm not sure if you had a look at any other pieces in this style in my gallery, the intention is with them to leave most areas unfinished to draw the attention to the area of of choice and importance, i.e. the head of the adult. I guess if you didn't get that then this wasn't a particularly successful in that department. If anything if I did this one again I'd remove some of the shading behind the front flipper to make perfectly it clear that the intention was to keep the image somewhat uncoloured. However thanks for the look & comment.

I really appreciate your reply. No, I haven't looked any other pieces; but I commented from the perspective of a 'fresh' viewer. I do acknowledge that you leave the tail unfinished intentionally - in fact, it really does emphasize the head part; however, the 'movement' from the unfinished to the emphasized is a bit abrupt. That's why I recommend more shading on the middle.
This is just my own opinion, anyway. The drawing is still very beautiful now
