Location: The Rogues
When I got back, I was greeted with a completely different picture than when I had left. Nature Elementals had already came to the Rogue City to help Gonnen make it an actual city. Not only that, but a few Ice Elementals had found their way here, as well as several other kinds of Elementals. I was later informed that a group had been looking for a safe haven and Xan lead them here.
She came towards me out of the crowd, positively beaming. "Look Jin! People!"
I laughed. "I see that!" She gave me a look and took my arm, steering me to our cottage. The first of many, I thought to myself.
"Gonnen's a genius or something, he's got all his little helpers, I swear, he's acting like a slave driver!" she said.
"Well, he did help in the building of the Farren tunnels…" I murmured, too engrossed by the activity around me.
"He did? Huh. Learn that on your trip?"
"Uh huh," was all I could say. I've only gone to two cities and already this place is starting to look how I had envisioned it.
She snorted at me lack of vocabulary. "Speaking of trips, guess who's back," she said, snapping out of my little trance.
"Roan?" I asked.
"Mhm-hmm. Mr. Grumpy himself."
I smiled at the nickname. "I'm sure he'd smile if you stopped making fun of him."
She grinned. "I'll stop making fun of him once he stops being grumpy! I mean look at this place, so much activity! So much to do!" I smiled to myself, not bothering to mention that's exactly what he wanted to avoid.
She excused herself from my presence, giving the excuse that she had to go yell at Gonnen for one thing or another and disappeared back into the crowd. I chuckled and opened the door to out house. I stepped in but then suddenly stopped dead at the sight of the new addition to our house.
Roan sat on a small bench, facing a piano. It most likely had seen better days and was once a shiny black. The white and black keys still gleamed though. I had forgotten how long it was since I had seen one.
Roan turned suddenly, his fingers slipping off the keys. "Hello, Roan," I said smiling, getting over my initial shock. I closed the door then stepped closer to the piano. "This is why you went back to Dhostvardaen?"
He nodded, turning back to the keys. "It… gets quiet here," he murmured.
I laughed a bit. "How did you get it here? And I thought you liked it that way." I sat next to him, gently touching the keys. I noticed out of the corner of my eye him shifting uncomfortably. "I'm sorry, I… just haven't played in so long."
He looked at me, a slight smile on his face and motioned to the piano. We turned and began playing, awkwardly at first because neither of us knew the same song, but in time we came to somewhat of an agreement. He played the lower keys and I the higher ones.
I made a note to myself to tell Xan that he had smiled.
