I'm glad you liked it. The illustrations for "Feminine Touch" I like better, although they don't look as good in black and white. That drawing that ended up on the cover for "Girly Boy" I actually drew three times, trying to get it the way I wanted. I was a little nervous since this was my first book for them and I was convinced they wouldn't want to work with me again afterwards.
Here's some trivia: When I found out the title was a (clumsy) reference to "Sam I Am," I tried sticking a couple of my own references to Dr Seuss books into the art, namely "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" and "Yertle the Turtle," but they were so subtle that I doubt anyone noticed, and I was behind schedule, so I gave up on that idea pretty quickly.

A nice touch, making him small and slight. He's still smaller than his mother -- and his girlfriend too. As a small boy he loved and admired his mother and offered no resistance when she encouraged him to get in touch with his feminine side by dressing and acting like her daughter. Will this be the model for his relationship with his girlfriend as well?

Alternatively, is mother perhaps sharing certain aspects of his childhood with the aim of breaking up the adult relationship between her son and his girlfriend so she can keep him to herself and continue playing the tender, loving mother-daughter game she's come to cherish?

And he looks so much happier as a boy with a ribbon in his hair and wearing matching mother-daughter dresses with mom than he does trying to be a normal adult male.
