Thatβs fantastic! Exactly the type of shots I want to achieve. Any tips on macro photography man? Iβm new to photography in general but Iβm interested very in macro. At the moment Iβve only got a standard lens (that came with my camera) but tomorrow I'm buying a macro lens!
Anyway excellent shot!

Thanks
Macro can be a pretty complecated thing.
I wrote an article about macro photography on my website, but it's in hebrew.... (I don't guess you speak it)
The general idea is: good lens, small aperture, strong flash lighting, composition. the rest is nonsence
Best of luck and success

Thanks,
The Extension tubes are practically empty tubes and there purpose is to get the lens further away from the body of the camera.
by doing that it creates a larger imaging circle that produce a larger image (and closer one) on the sensor. the same way you push a slide projector away from the wall to get a bigger image.
I hope I didn't make it too complicated.
Best regards,
Roie Galitz

so the fly would look bigger, does it cause any distortion?
I see, is that a must accessory for macro shot?

well, the extension tube doesn't cause distortion but it does decrease the amount of light reaching the sensor (the same way you move the projector away from the wall), so you need longer exposures / higher ISO / stronger flash to achieve good exposure.
I think it's a nice piece of equipment and if you want strong macros than you should get it.

wow, must have been one hell of a job to focus, every tiny move would get it off?

you're right. focusing in macro is done usually manually by moving the camera back and forth until the focus is exactly on the bug's eyes.
Thanks

great shot, you must have a LOT of patient to do this!

Thanks. actually you're right, patience is needed and it's kind of frustrating.
