Description The loading may be very long, but it will be worth the wait......trust me!

This Flash movie is a masterpiece of mine.

Know the painful history of my country and how much we struggle to
survive in times of being invaded by the Japanese in 1945.

Witness the carnage and suffering my people inflicted.

Great work.. My girlfriend is half Filippino so I'm going to the philippines next year. One of my biggest passions is making movies. So could you help me with places and historical information about the the philippines. My idea was to make a movie about the philippines and its history. I'm going to present the movie to all of the local philippinos at the national day 2008. Hope to hear from you.

well, there is this magellan's cross in mactan island, where Ferdinand Magellan erected a cross here a long time age, probably in the 14th century. It can be located in "Cebu City", that is also the place where i live.

I think we're going to stay in manila, cus' her family lives there.. But I want to explore as much as possible, and put together a movie for my philipino friends (her fam. and all the locals) here in Norway. So if you could list a few names and what happened there, you know, just a short brief so I can decide what I think is most important and usefull for my storytelling. And once again, I love your flash movie, maybe I'll show that too This year we had some geek who didn't know shit about the Philippine story to tell us about it.. man, he sucked so unbelivabel.. So I need something that totaly rocks his presentation. hehe nothing personal, I just like to compete But, name a few spots and theire historical purpose and we'll decide what would work best?

That's a very interesting piece. Overall it's quite good although it still has some things which can be improved on.

The scene with the Spaniards is very puzzling. I agree with what was said above regarding the importance of consistency. It was an abrupt turn, which left me wondering about its relevance since you clearly stated in the beginning that this was going to be about the second World War. Perhaps you were trying to show the parallels of being invaded by another race? If yes, then a smoother transition could have helped, which I believe could have been achieved by including a few description regarding Spain's invasion of the Philippines, and how like the Japs, it led to the death of many (since you showed the GomBurza).

When you mentioned 'history', I expected a quite a lot. I was expecting you to go deeper than just the images of atrocities. Like how the Pinoy's fought back with the help of the Americans and failed. But if it's 'to shock' viewers that you're after, and merely to show the violence that our countrymen have gone through, you certainly got it and in that sense, this piece is a success. Technically, it is a good piece. Pretty much the type that you see being shown in history museums.

I dig the dramatic last line too. It conveys a very strong emotion.

These are just my opinion, I hope you take no offense sir. Have a great day.

Nice work! But, I too was confused about the images of the Spaniards and how they fit into the Japanese atrocities. I also had a comment about the music. The music was very moving, but I thought it would be interesting if it were a Philipino song with the same tone. I couldn't tell what language the singer was singing. If it was one of the many philipino languages, forgive me. Just something to think about. I like the documentary aspect of your piece. I too am interested in subjects such as this. I am travelling to the Philippines this month and plan on visiting the Red House in Mapanique, Pampanga. Amnesty International mentions it on their site.

the spaniards came a long time ago, that was about the late 18th century, and the Japanese invaded Philippines on the time where world war to was still at hand, the age of fear.

As a film maker, who created a piece similar to this, I would like to give you a critique. Now a critique is meant to open up the piece for further evalutaion and perhaps help the artist to create an even better piece in the future. What is the idea in which you aretrying to portray? Suffering of the Filipinos or the cruelty of war? It seems that it alternates from the images that you've seen and the end text. In part, does the text also refer to Manila? Are you in some way blaming the Japanese for their sins? What does this piece have to do with the now and how do the things you've shown in this piece affect the present?

It is a good piece, however, the shock value (which I am guessing you are trying to convey) is also inconsistent. First you show damage from WWII then switch back to the 1500's then back to world war II. For the sake of intergrity, you may want to look at consistency of content. One should also consider the amount of aethetics used such as the imagery and the music.

RomeoRock In reply to GeneralIriga [2005-11-11 13:02:33 +0000 UTC]

those text you read were from very old newspapers from local libraries I found, those pictures were classified ones some of them. But I reckon that they were all true, but that was history in the making of the Philippines, we are at peace now. Nobody hates anyone in this era, I think.

People can change mind you? and I dont suppose that time stood still.

GeneralIriga In reply to RomeoRock [2005-11-11 18:39:31 +0000 UTC]

I think it would be effective to really accentuate the fact that the text came from the actual newspapers.
As for the hating bit, eveyrone hates someone for any number of reasons. its our way of saying, "hey you exist!"
