So...Yooka-Laylee. There's a lot I can say about the game, but I'll save it for later.
Two character teams I've heard frequently requested/suggested for Smash Ultimate are Banjo-Kazooie and Yooka-Laylee. I can understand why both would be requested. Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie are two of the most-beloved 3rd-party games for the N64, and even Phil Spencer is willing to let them be in Smash Bros. As for Yooka-Laylee, the game is a more-contemporary equivalent to Banjo-Kazooie, the game was first and foremost intended to be on a Nintendo platform, and fans are hoping for some indie reps in Smash. I have no preference for which one I'd rather have in Smash Bros. in case you're wondering.
One thing I noticed playing Yooka-Laylee is how pretty much every one of their moves is similar to the moves of Banjo and Kazooie. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. I like that the moves are similar, since the game is meant to be reminiscent of Banjo-Kazooie. I was thinking that due to their similar moves, it would be funny if both Banjo-Kazooie and Yooka-Laylee were in Smash Ultimate and the latter were the former's Echo Fighter(s). Pretty much any move the bird and bear could use, the chameleon and bat could as well. I thought I'd illustrate this, with Laylee questioning the "ε" (because of course they'd break the fourth wall like that). I doubt this will happen, but it's still fun to imagine.
Also I went with the original design for Banjo and Kazooie, because they're much cuter and would make more sense being on a Nintendo console. If they gave Pac-Man his original/Pac-Man World design, why not do the same with Banjo-Kazooie?
