Description
And this was at the beginning of the rp, before everything went south! o o fIt was a rough one for me and Roo to get out there, it's so unlike these two to act like they did...Unfortunately Tolmi has been fostering a lot of her fear of rejection/others moving on without her, which is part of the reason this exploded the way it did. I hope we never see them fight again...
SUMMERY: Griffon 'flirts' a little with Vespa, while Tolmi stands by. The two get into an argument that goes horribly wrong. And Rowan and Moose cry the whole time
THE ROLEPLAY
-------------------
The morning seemed to fly by fast. Between the stirring bit of felines moving in and out of various dens throughout the clearing and the soft murmur of apprentices readying themselves for a long days work amongst one another, Griffon fell somewhere on the in between. Slinking away from his still occupied nest, the tiguar made his way into the clearing, a small grin of welcome holding his muzzle as cats exchanged words of greeting and congrats to the large male. He wanted to keep things moderately mellow, Gale always said not to boast too much the voice echoed within, a tight smile growing at the fond memory of the Cheetahs words.
Tolmi padded through camp, headed back from the entrance at a rather slow pace. She wanted to get some time alone. Cats kept asking her how she was doing, if she needed help with anything, where she was going, if she wanted some company. Like she was some sort of fragile icicle, able to melt at the slightest hint of heat, able to shatter easily. She loved her empire, but she was growing tired of it.
Griffons gaze faltered from a few familiar faces, many of which turned away from him to deal with border patrolling or apprentices who found it easier to run away rather than to stay in camp like told. At first, the tiguar failed to see his Toulouse waltzing into camp with the ever so welcoming expression alighting her face, and instead turned to a small group of Gladiators who had nodded over to him. Tail in a tight curl, he grinned and padded over, turning to the side to show off his belly scar- the tough pink flesh rippling along his side and stomach. He was proud of it that's for sure.
The hybrid noted the orange pelt of her constant companion and adjusted her course accordingly. The big goof was probably showing off those scars of his- by this time, everyone in camp must have seen them. She wasn't complaining too much about it though, the scars added a level of ruggedness to his appearance that she wasn't entirely against. The female was in too much of a bad mood to initiate her usual greeting, which consisted of her attempting to sneak up on the tiguar. Instead she plodded slowly to his side, listening to the conversation as she approached.
Vespa was lounging with a few other gladiators. She spoke occasionally, but not as often as a majority of the other felines. Instead, she listened to their conversation and surveyed the camp. The auburn leopardess' amber gaze fell upon a tiger that had just approached. He seemed to be trying to show off something, by his proud expression and the angle he had his body turned at. Her gaze ran over his muscular figure until she found a fresh, pink scar on the side of his belly. It was a unique scar, she hadn't seen one like it in a considerable amount of time. She nodded, opening her maw and complimenting him. "That's quite an interesting scar. How'd you get it?" she asked, thoroughly curious.
Grinning, the Tiguar purred at the sudden attention given from the other Gladiator, his gaze almost cub like after getting praise. As Tolmi approached he quickly smiled in greeting before returning over to Vespa, his tail slowly resting along his speckled counterpart. "I'm glad you think so, I caught it in the raid actually- massive jaguar had me pinned.. Ripped my stomach with his gnarly fangs.. It was brutal- Honestly I was afraid it was gonna be my last few moments on this earth." Griffon pawned over his story, ears taken back as he recalled over exaggeratedly, making it sound like he was on his last leg in those few moments. Caught in the heat he'd almost forgot to mention how he got into that position in the first place. "Although, it was worth it all to take most of the damage for a lady in waiting. Not to say she can't fend for herself, but sometimes help is exceptional." The orange mutt grinned, lifting his back foot in attempts to not only show off his belly some more, but to scratch at his ear in an almost dog like manner.
Tolmi listened to the conversation, noting the tone of her partner in crime as well as this female she had never met before. It was nothing... she was sure. But it brought back memories from before her and Griff had admitted feelings for each other. He had always been one to attract the ladies, boastful stories and dashing looks always mixing together while Tolmi stood watch and said nothing. She could feel herself slipping back into that mentality while Griffon strutted his stuff to this other female, and she responded to it. She bumped Griffon, eyes flashing just a bit as she glanced in the direction of Vespa. Who was she? Did... did Griffon feel differently about her now, since she had been gone for so long? Had he considered moving on?
Vespa raised an eyebrow. "Ah, how daring and brave of you," she replied sweetly. "Well, I applaud you for defending your Empire so fearlessly. A very honorable act indeed," she nodded quaintly, smiling softly. Her sharp eyes wandered over the the pretty cheetah hybrid of some sorts who had just appeared. "Ah, hello," she greeted the female. Judging by her slightly annoyed, yet worried gaze and more tense body language, Vespa guessed that she was the 'lady in waiting' that the male had mentioned a few moments ago.
Griffon met Tolmi's gaze briefly at the prompt nudge- Her golden orbs hardened with annoyance and demand. Unsure with what he was doing wrong, he followed her gaze back to Vespa before shrugging and retrieving his grin at her sudden praise. The Tiguar seemed to puff his chest out overtime, ruffling his neck floof so he appeared measurably bigger despite already being a beast. "The pleasure is mine-" he mrowed with a curt bow, before surfacing back again. "Can't let brute strength like this just go to waste, now can ya?"
Tolmi almost wanted to raise a paw and knock him upside the head. Hadn't he caught her drift? The hybrid was in a dangerously bad mood, and this certainly was not helping. These two were practically flirting right in front of her nose, and she wasn't having any effect on it. With a low growl, Tolmi whipped around and began storming away, tail hitting Griffon's side as she marched away. Her ears were flattened practically against her skull as she headed for some quiet corner in camp where she could avoid Griffon.
Vespa smiled. “You are quite right. A brave gladiator is often more useful in combat that a cowardly one,” she mused. The leopardess saw the huffy female whip around and storm off. Vespa raised an eyebrow. “Your lady friend seems a bit annoyed. You may want to talk to her,” she smirked. “And angry female is the worst thing to put up with,” she said, before standing up slowly. “Let's talk later, okay?”
It happened all so fast. What was he doing wrong? Vespas words all clouded into one sentence as he watched Tolmi storm off, her thick tail whacking his side and catching his attention very suddenly. It wasn't until the brown female had trailed away and left him on a high note that he warily smiled and nodded before backing up and padding after his spotted companion, not in a fast manner but enough that he'd get to her sooner than later. "Hey - What was that back there? You arlight Toulouse?" Griffon smirked in a oddly comforting way, ears pricked as his chuff came out more curious than anything.
Tolmi rounded on him at a pace that startled even her, but she was mad at him. "Yeah. Yeah I'm just fine." She spat, emotions bubbling to the surface. "I wish everyone would stop asking that, do I look weak? I'm not a cub any more... though I feel like one again when..." she paused, looking down at her paws, suppressing a few wayward tears that sprung to her eyes rather fast. Her eyes then rose to meet his, her sadness hidden behind a mask of anger. "When you flirt with other cats. Sometimes I wonder if y-you're serious.... about this." Her voice trailed off at the end, eyes still raised to him and glowing with a golden fury
The females violent strike at him made him stumble into a sit, ears fiercely pinned against his crown as she harshly eased up into his face, a mere snarl said enough between her emotions of hurt and rage. Griffon, eyes wide, shook his head in some untimely manner- at a point where he was afraid to look away. He could feel her pain increasingly radiating by the second, each set of words she spat like an unstable tidal wave- It would come full force just to die down before it hit you again when you least expected it. "Tolmi- I wasn't.. I didn't mean- Of course Im serious! How could I not? I didn't mean-" For the first time, the Tiguar male tripped helplessly over his words, a mix of his own guilt and despair prickling within his belly. Flirting?? I didn't mean to- Oh Toulouse.. Please let this be over with soon. I dont want to fight you-..
Of course I'm serious! How could I not? "The pleasure is mine-can't let brute strength like this just go to waste, now can ya?" She stated, looking away. "That's how I'm not entirely convinced, Griffon." His name dropped off her tongue like a stone, devoid of the usual charm that came with saying it. "Just... don't even bother. I'm so sick of cats right now." She was inches away from storming off again, some shred of the usual Tolmi hanging on. Her insecurities were laid out on the dust beneath their paws, illuminated by the bright sunlight. "I'm not some girl you can hang out with only when you want some fun, and then who you can abandon to go talk to some pretty gladiator." Her words were calmer, but still laced with the venom from the snakes she would sometimes hunt from above.
The speckled hybrid began to mock him, and it was then that Griffon began to feel the stabbing pain of guilt and regret - each word hitting him harder than before. It made him almost wince as she spat his name- Not in any way she'd done before. He opened his mouth to jolt in before she cut him off "Just.. don't even bother. I'm so sick of cats right now..-". Mossy green eyes glazed in emotions as she took a few moments to herself, himself finding it in him to compose for round two if it had managed to surface again. "Toulouse.. You've.. never- Been just.. some girl" He desperately mewed. The Empire clearing seemed to slow as the scene unraveled before them. The perfect little couple was breaking. And its all my fault. "Please- I didn't realize... I-I.." Once again, her expression made him choke on his own, failing to find the right phrase.
Tolmi flattened her ears, looking away once again. She felt awful inside, like her stomach was tying itself in a knot. But the emotions kept spilling out of her along with the words, from some previously dammed river that she couldn't stop up. The gold-brown hybrid flattened her ears once more, tail twitching side to side rather violently. All he was doing was stuttering, not coming up with a real response. Did he... did he really not like her? Once again the shield of anger went up to protect hurt feelings, eyes cutting into his gaze. "You didn't realize? I...I think I made it pretty obvious I wanted you to stop." She was thinking of when she had bumped his side and given him the look. "Apparently you don't listen."
Get a grip! You're loosing her you fluffy bastard! Griffon watched as she recoiled a bit before lashing once again, her golden orbs sharp like knives into his own gaze, but it would take a lot more than that to break their exchange in looks. All the accusations now started to get to him, hurt bubbling up in his belly as she continued on. Now it was like everyone had stopped what they were doing to witness the argument, as if someone were about to take a swing at the other - At this rate though he really didn't know what to expect. Pretty obvious? "If i'd of known whatever I was doing was bothering you- I wouldn't have continued Tolmi. Im not looking to flirt with anyone other than you anytime soon or at all period! How was I supposed to know you were upset by the nudge you gave me Toulouse? I didn't know what you wanted from me!" The hybrid finally countered in defense, ears in a pin and prick motion as the sentence went on, hurt glazing his eyes as the scene went by.
She suppressed a hiss, eyes narrowing in response. "I suppose the look on my face wasn't any indicator then, was it? And it's not like it's the first time this has happened!" They were definitely causing a scene now, cats watching from further away in an uncomfortable silence as the lovebirds butted heads. "I just-" she let out an exasperated breath of air, tail now lashing behind her. Griffon
"If it's been such an issue, then why hasn't it been addressed to me yet?! I'll take the critique you know-" Griffon now started to heat up, his once before sincere tone of voice was now flooded with shield like hormones, his ears now a stable prick in frustration. "Im not understanding why all of a sudden this is being brought up to me. I thought we were okay Tolmi." Sternly, he muttered the last sentence out as she took a few moments, the beginning of a new comment trailing away with her old persona. Tolmi
"Maybe before I went away." But now? Now she was just another broken gladiator, traumatized by her time in the city. Nobody wanted to sleep next to someone who cried out at night. Nobody wanted a broken cat. "Would you, even? Take the critique? Doesn't seem like you're taking it real well now." She hissed, muzzle wrinkling as her teeth flashed in the sun. "Does it even matter when or where I bring it up? It's not like you seem to be making an effort to change." Once again, her words leaped forwards from her mouth for the sole purpose of hurting Griffon. What was happening? Why couldn't she stop herself? Griffon
"Because I'm being forced into a large scene over a small chat! This isn't a conversation to announce publicly Tolmi. I don't know what part of you thinks any of this was civilized and alright but Im going to break it to you- It's not." The Tiguar finally snapped. Anger and guilt rising rapidly through his veins as the argument escalated. Dread hit his belly moments after his voice had trailed into a silence, the only thing audible was heavy breathing, flaring from his nostrils. He'd never yelled at her before like that-.... How could he? He didn't want to hurt her- He didn't want her to go again... "I've made more than enough efforts to make you happy Tolmi. I'd do anything for you. Sorry you can't flipping see it through your blinded game of hit and run." He muttered, ears now flat against his crown. Tolmi
"Fine. You don't want a scene?" Her voice was higher pitched now, barely masking tears in her eyes. She was angry, not sad! "You don't wanna deal with this right now? " Once again, she paused, tail still lashing back and forth. "Then don't. Excuse me for being angry about something that is apparently so trivial to you." The hybrid spat, anger making her voice crack. She could feel her heart beating faster. Something about fighting with Griffon felt so....wrong. But this was too far gone for her to care. "Maybe.. maybe we should just take a break. From this. From us."
Her words much like Vespas jumbled together and everything felt numb as she concluded her statement. "A.. Break..?" Griffon feebly mumbled, the anger from his expression fading into complete depression as he looked at her sadly. What have I done... What have I done-.... No- I've lost you once before.. not again. Not for good... A wave of voices clouded within and a film of tears glossed his mossy orbs, but they dared to fall in front of her or anyone else. "Toulouse-.." He hoarsely murmured, lifting a paw hesitantly to reach out for hers, looking down as it came into realization that she would reject his efforts. He drew away. "Please- Don't.. I- can't.." He croaked weakly. Tolmi
She took a shuddering breath, avoiding his gaze. She knew she would break down if she did. Tolmi was a proud cat. Once those words were out... there was no taking them back. She couldn't. And so she did the next best thing. The cheegar turned away from Griffon once again, tears really falling from her face now. It's ok. He can't see... "Just... I need to go." Now. For the second time that day, she was moving away from him, only this time she was basically running towards the exit of camp. What had she done? Griffon
Drip. Griffon sat down, defeated emotionally, however with the rough form that took over, it could've very well been physical from the hits Toulouse had jabbed at him, her words echoing sharply over and over in his mind. A tear fell from his cheek onto his large paw , before he peeked up once more. The fading silhouette of Tolmi soon disappeared from view, she as gone. Cats murmured and whispered around him, some even shoving others away to leave the Tiguar some space to himself. What have you done... Griffon weakly returned his gaze to the spot she previously stood, memories of her sweet and smiling face twitching between reality. The endless nights I cried myself to sleep because I thought you were gone.... At least I could have hope you were okay. Im not so sure now... Another tear dribbled down his cheek, streaking wet stains upon his orange and black fluff, depressing it to his skin. What have I done...
