Tylwyth TegΒ also known as Bendith y Mamau (Blessing of the Mothers) is a collective term for fair folk or fairiesin Welsh and Irish Mythology.
According to legend fairies had a habit of taking kind hearted babies and young children from their cribs and replacing them with a Changeling or plentyn-newid. These changelings would look identical to the child but cause much distress to the parents by screaming, consuming as much food as a full grown adult and generally making the parents lives unpleasant.

Charming art. About the changelings, do they grow up and recognise themselves as humans? Or do the parents notice the exchange eventually and get rid of the thing?
I also wonder what purpose they might have to kidnap the children. So mysteryous.
