Just found you through reddit and I have to say you’ve got some stunning work! I noticed from one of your videos that you also use SAI, if you don’t mind me asking do you have any tips on painting in SAI? In other programs like CSP or Photoshop the brushes feel much more ‘organic’ if that makes sense. Unfortunately my computer doesn’t like running those programs so I must stick with SAI and while I love it for doing lined work, I struggle with any sort of painting because it doesn’t feel natural to me. ;-;

Thank you so much! Had I known that there was such an active community on Reddit I might have started posting there sooner X)
I would definitely recommend messing around with brush settings until you can find yourself brushes that you like to work with: for example, it took me ages to find a fur brush which I really gelled with, SAI has so many different settings for brushes so just screw around with em for an hour until you have a set you like (or google 'painterly brushes for SAI', that works too!). You might want to set the stabilizer to 4 or 5, I feel that helps give the brush a tiny bit of 'drag' which makes it seems more lifelike (and it also smooths out your lines ^^) I have found that not always using the watercolour brush to blend colours and instead painting in transitioning colours helps paintings appear more textured. Finally, you can try applying a watercolour filter to the whole painting when you're done ^^ The filter options are above the layer options in Photoshop, try experimenting with. Obviously this is done after the painting process so might not quite be what you're looking for, but I find it definitely makes my paintings look more like... well, paintings
Hope this helps! Feel free to ask me any more questions, I'm happy to answer to the best of my knowledge
