This is my submission for the current Shinlai adoption. Really hope I get him!

NOTE: I changed his horns a wee bit and added some accessories. I didn't change or get rid of his markings, just showed the additional markings on his other side. He came out a little lighter than I intended but the correct color swatches are on there.

History
Khandro was born into a Darkblood community and had a rather rough and competitive childhood as a result. He was taught to fight and survive from an early age and could often be found mock-fighting with the other pups. His parents were thrilled when he started showing signs of having the Dark gift and began intense training to perfect it right away. He grew up a bit overly cocky, using his powers as a threat to any who would oppose him, although he almost never went through with any of the threats. He had a bit of a bad boy attitude and often had trouble controlling his temper. When he was eighteen, he lost his temper with his younger sister and attacked her with an explosive amount of power that he wasn’t aware he possessed, bringing her to the brink of death. This encounter had a life changing effect on him and he began to fear what his real power was capable of. Being that he was still rather young, this realization and the guilt of his sister’s injuries were more than he could handle and he fled his home. He faced several hardships trying to survive but his training as a child prevailed as he wondered around in a daze for a few months. He was eventually able to gather his thoughts and decided to set out on a quest to learn as much about the peaceful aspects of the religions of the world in order to balance out his darkness. He lived much like a hermit or monk and went for several years without speaking to another soul. He would occasionally visit the more solitary members of human communities in order to learn of their ways but would never stay for long. In contrast, he stayed as far as possible from other Shinlai, still fearful that he would bring another to harm. This led to him having much more contact with humans than with his own kind during much of his life. After spending ten years in the wilderness, he finally feels a sense of peace within himself and has allowed brief contact with other Lai, fearing that actual relationships may lead to conflict. He would like to make contact with his family again but he doesn’t know how he will be received now that he has turned away from the Darkbloods and because of the state his sister was in when he left.

Appearance/Accessories History
Hummingbird Skull: A hummingbird was the first creature he ever controlled with his puppetry power. Being inexperienced, he unintentionally led to its death and was upset but reassured by his parents that it was fine. His parents later gifted him the skull as a sign of his emerging power, although he didn’t know it was the same bird. He wore it as a pup mostly as attempt to look cool and/or dangerous.

Prayer beads and feathers: He collected the prayer beads during his travels and has attached the hummingbird skull to the end of them. He wears them twined around his horns. He also always has some kind of wrap around his tail with random feathers in it. He may have additional rings or feathers on his horns but they are not permanent accessories.

Markings: During his spiritual studies with humans he occasionally lets them mark him with symbols of their culture or religion. He has made a few of these symbols permanent but will sometimes appear with henna-like designs covering large portions of his body after a recent visit with humans. Permanent markings include: Hand print, “Dream Catcher”, Lotus, and Three Stripes.
