I agree the Zevran change is worse. Why change a good thing in his case. Now Isabela was for the better I think, but a total makeover?

While I'm not a fan of what Bioware did to Alistair and Zevran *swallows down the bile*, I have to admit I'm glad they changed Isabela, and I'm not wholly against what they did to Cullen and Anders, either. (Anders was good looking in Awakenings, but I like my guys with a little more meat on his bones, and they filled him out nicely in DA2.)
DA2 Isabela actually had me considering her as a romance option for a while there. She's got a lot of mischief in those eyes... seemed like it could be fun! LOL!
