I love this tutorial! Reading through the comments, I noticed that you mentioned a whole trend where painting with color from the start is elite to starting out in greyscale. Personally, I see nothing wrong with using the greyscale first, because it allows emphasis on the highlights and shadows without getting oversaturated with color. A lot of artists actually prefer to learn in greyscale and get the lighting down before they branch out to full color artwork. Another nice thing is that you have a base that's easy to reproduce or fix if you make a mistake. Hey it's art, you can do it however you like

Anyways, nice job, and thank you!

I agree! I'm glad to see another artist who doesn't have a... shall we say, superiority about it hahah. Thank you very much ^^

Precisely! The only reason that I can do digital paintings the way I do is because I did photomanipulations for long beforehand, so when I moved to painting, I just used the exact same techniques. Now a lot of people will get mad at you if you paint in greyscale and then color it, there's a trend of elitism about painting with color or at least not using white/black on soft light the way I do, but hey. The result is good enough! And at the level I'm currently at, it's effective enough for me. ^^ Someday I'll look into painting with color and all that jazz instead of greyscale and then coloring.

I hope it helped you, if only to give you confidence about being able to attack it!
