you Basic EMP is either ineffective or quickly recovered from.

I dont know much about Guren.

But Prime has a few notable attributes (that i doubt guren has equals too)

Regeneration....transformers have a very limited healing factor, minor damage can be healed in time

Homogenous Body... prime in past iterations has demonstrated that as long as his spark chamber and meta processor are undamaged, his parts will survive in a state of status & can be reassembled.  G1 prime even had the abilities (presumed to be derived from the matrix) to remote control sever body parts if in close enough proximatey and they have enough power.

Armour Pannelling....  there armour has a high tolerance of damage but also gives real time feed back. also thanks to transformation capabilitys he has a limited degree of panel manipulation, and can even shed exterior armour if need.

Energon Axe.... prime can project an energeon construct, or charge his melee weapons with energeon to allow them to cut through almost anything.

The Matrix of Leadership..... powers include: resurrection, empowerment, bestowing knowlege,  energy discharge (a powerful long range radiation blast)

Is a sentient being rather than a mecha,  so there is no interface delay between thought and action (giving faster reflexes) primes innate instincts would also translate to his body the way a human's would not translate to the exo, also there is no vulnerable pilot or cockpit.

Experience, Prime, has been Prime (post orion pax)  for a few thousand years, almost all of which spent fighting in a civil war... before that he spend a few more thousand years as a archivist, making him well verse in history, tactics and cryptography

Cybernetic interface... Prime's physical status grands him a higher affinity for machines than most species & it is entirely possible that at close range Prime could hack the control systems of non sentient robots.

Transformation system... prime is not restricted to his truck form, and even if it just for hiding purposes adopt the form of any near by mechanism of a simular size (with in certain parameters)

No literally none of this mattered if Guren's EMP would work. That was unfortunately all Guren had going for it.
