Description
Atlene comprises the westernmost part of Atantar continent. It is bordered by the Egadea Ocean to the west, the Rhodennian Ocean to the south and the both the continent of Antar and the Antarian Ocean to the east. Of the seven continents on Elun, Atlene is the richest and most peaceful, although it is as riven with conflict as the other continents.

Atlene is most famous for being the birthplace of Elun and the center of his empire. During the collapse of the Elunic Empire, Atlene was ravaged by the worst fighting, and for over a millennium Atlene remained a primitive backwater. It was not until the 14th century, with the advent of the Atlenian colonial period, that Atlene became once again dominant on Elun. Historically ravaged by war, the rise of the United Republics of Atlene and the Oaranic Empire helped stabilize the continent.

Modern Atlene is dominated by the United Republics, a relatively young country formed from the historically independent Volksche principates. It leads the Confederation of Atlene, an organization which was formed primarily to defend against the Oaranics but has grown to be a loose successor to the Elunic Empire. Almost every Atlenian country is a member of the Confederation, and the size and diversity of its membership is both a strength and weakness of the Confederation.

Through the Confederation, Atlene is one of the primary participants in the Endless War, the great conflict between the Atlenians and the Oaranics. With the Oaranic advance largely halted on the Ethurius Mountains in the late 18th century, the Endless War has become a centuries-long conflict, with neither side able to gain a substantial advantage over the other. The war has kept the Confederation together, even as internal disputes threaten to tear it apart.
