Description
The Enterprise-class cruiser is the symbol of the Federal Star Fleet, like its rival, the Imperial Dondrukov-class battlestar. However, apart from their fame, the two ships could not be more different. While the Imperial battlestar serves at the heart of an Imperial fleet, the Enterprise-class operates independently. Enterprise-class cruisers are the first responders of Star Fleet, and thus they are equipped to deal with most situations. Armed with a large compliment of phasers and photon torpedoes, the Enterprise-class can dispatch most any threat, human or alien, unless they come from one of the major galactic powers. The Enterprise-class is reliable, and its four warp engines give it speed and maneuverability that even other ships in the Federal Star Fleet cannot match. The Enterprise-class is designed to operate independently for years, and so its life support systems are far more sophisticated than fleet-based craft. The reason for the Enterprise-class's fame is not its place in a major galactic war machine, but rather because it is often the ship the Federation uses for first contact. Star Fleet sends a good portion of its Enterprise fleet to explore strange new worlds, to find new life and new civilizations, and to either bring them into the loving embrace of the Unity Party or to scour the threat to the Enlightened Revolution from the stars. Thus, many Enterprise-class vessels are not equipped primarily for combat, but rather for scientific experimentation and for converting the masses to the Unity ideology. Enterprise-class cruisers often carry "impressive" artifacts of Federation culture, to convince primitive societies to join the Federation.

Abdalakbyz [Enterprise] no. 93! (hell, if I'm translating I'd better translate the base-8 135 too)
Also, how's progress on the font?
(and, for that matter, how do you say "Enterprise" in SSI? A mix of predpriyatiye, enterprise, venture, and otvazhitsya?)
Finally, are there any bigger fed ships to be done?

I still haven't found a free program that can generate fonts.
There will be larger Federation ships.

One I've actually tried and pretty sure it's free but it's online: fontstruct.com/
Another for handwriting: www.myscriptfont.com/

I imagine one such "impressive" artifact a Federation vessel would carry to impress primitive aliens would be a crude matter replicator; although impractical to use due to energy difficulties, a device capable of producing any practical item (preferably one of sustenance) from thin air would surely be universally seen as extremely advanced, if not divine, by even the most alien cultures, even if the example is a bit more than deceptive of the Federation's actual technological and economic capabilities. I imagine something like that would be most effective at convincing beings who exist in harsh, resource-lacking environments. When confronted by strange beings from the sky, I think most rational cultures would quickly accept an offer to join the Federation.

Those matter replicators don't exist in a size that could be carried by an Enterprise-class cruiser, because those matter replicators are several times larger. The artifacts they carry around are things like communicators and holograms.

Oh yeah, those are definitely impressive.
