Description this was done for a contest which is currently still going on at maizekid74's site [link]

the jist was to draw his character, Christopher Clocksworth, in our own cartoony way. i had a lot of fun with this because the character himself is reminiscent of old zany cartoons like Mr. Peabody & Sherman, or even shows like H.R. Puffnstuff. The direction i took with it was to draw it somewhat ol' timey style (i.e. tex avery) but add in a late 80's early 90's kinda story device, because that is most vivid when i think of children's shows. so i added five characters and the TimeSled in which they travel around in.

the kids shown are (roughly from left to right):
Susan-the brainiac girl who knows the most about the time and place they go to each week. she's bookish and usually solves the riddle.
Patrick(the one with the cap)- the gung-ho good kid who's always the bravest and looking for more adventure, closest friendship with Clocksworth.
Timothy-the bratty one,who likes to pick fights and complain the most. his arrogance gets him into trouble and is often the example set to learn the episode's lesson.
Mary-Ann- the spoiled rich girl who is snotty to everyone except for Patrick, whom she openly has a crush on, a point made often.
and Andrew- Mary-Ann's baby brother who makes ga-ga noises and usually ends up wandering into trouble, forcing the others to save him.

really, i think there were 15 billion shows like this when i was growing up, but if Clocksworth was in it, i'd watch it for sure. i hope maizekid likes this.

christopher clocksworth is (c) Maizekid74

(...the kids names are those of my father, aunts and uncles, only Ellen was left out, sorry...maybe she could be a recurring villian...hmm.)

and if anyone wants to color this, i'd be thrilled! just inform me when ya do, thanks!

he totally has that rocky and bullwinkle feel to him...i wish i knew the artist who was behind mr. peabody and fractured fairy tales...his stuff is close to that of Paul Coker Jr. one of my favorite MAD artists. but yeah, clocksworth so coulda been on that show.

sadly, it seems most people want grim & gritty over madcap and chicanery...sigh...

but hopefully we can bring about a 'second rennaisance' (yeah i know i spelt the 'r' word wrong...).

to zany characters! huzzah!
