Description Well if anyone grabbed issue 20 Invincible yesterday you would know what this pic is all about. This is Angstrom Levy's machine, I'm diggin this character, he's just gonna get cooler. Anyway, this is a progression, layout, finished pencils, to inks. I'm finally getting more comfortable doing this tech stuff, it still is a big difficulty for me, but it's getting much easier the more I do it.
Thanks for peekin.

The details are astounding...must have taken a heckuva lot of patience. I was wondering though, are the inks digital?

What is the exact process you take. imean do you use a light box, or what? Because the final pencils are so damn clean, and i am trying to figure out how to do such a thing..can you please respeond back adn tell me.

Thanks
TaD!

RyanOttley In reply to TaDL [2005-02-26 04:25:57 +0000 UTC]

No light box for this. That would make my hand sweat and warp the paper if I drew this on a lightbox. To see my whole process go to my gallery and look at my OzF5 cover progressions part 1 and 2. I sketch the layouts with blue pencil, then go over that with an HB lead, then go over that with a 2B lead, tightening it all up, adding detail. Then I ink. Sometimes I skip the HB part. Hope that helps.

How can you bare drawing so many identical parts of that machine over and over again? I think I'd spontaneously combust. Top of the line work, as always. Incredible.

theCHAMBA In reply to kumarmia [2005-02-25 13:45:33 +0000 UTC]

well forming sentences..
not so much.. it's more how i pronounce things..

Friggen sweet, chief. I'll drop by Black Cat Comics (if you know where that is) tomorrow to check it out. They might have my on-orders, so I might have some free cash to float on some Invincibles, if ya catch my drift. Oh! Funny question! Do you do signings? @____@

RyanOttley In reply to Autaux [2005-02-26 01:13:54 +0000 UTC]

Dude, I don't know how Darrow can stay sane with all his detail, I know he couldn't handle a monthly gig doing his regular amount of detail though. I heard he spends about 3 days on a page, and it shows. Fricken amazing stuff, one of my fav artists.
