Are these actual Paint Brush strokes or is it digital? I can't even tell but hey that tells you how much about art.
Either way I really like the style. Not that it's never been done before but especially with Minecraft Fan Art the styles tend to kind of stagnate into the same "perfect digital painting" -- I love that you didn't do this here. Having the environment in front of beef really detailed and everything behind him slowly getting less and less so is also a really nice touch. It's almost as though the more blurry his memories of past places become, so does the picture. But I'm probably reading too much into this. ._.' Though hidden meanings or not, I really love this piece as a whole. You did a great job.

This was all done digital, those are just brushstrokes that simulate paint brushes. I did the background fade effect to simulate the minecraft distance fade effect, but that's also similar to how the shaders he has in life in the woods look.
Regarding the style, I didn't really try to do anything new, brush-wise that's just how I work, it passes the feel if the mood and surroundings a lot faster than drawing it clean though sketch>lines>base>shading>adjustments>lineart coloration>etc. This drawing took less than 2 hours, sketch and all. If I wanted to go into detail now, it would STILL take less time overall than drawing it detailed from the start.
