For god and country: the worlds first justifications for war. This is brilliant! Have you considered doing a back cover for it so I can print it off and replace the actual cover because this is better by far!

Pretty cool, but I don't think that any games publisher is going to put the words foreign horde' on the cover even it's suppose to be the bad guys lol.

I totally understand that, and in ways I agree. However, it's kind of "irrational" to think that way, because the mural image was used in one of the first gameplay footages that the game developers released to give fans a taste of the game's envoirnment and feel.
Not only that, the mural is within the game.
I used the image specifically for the same reason the developers did, and that is to convey the xenophobic and racist ideology that both the early United States of America, and Colombia, held.
But yes, I agree with you. It would probably upset people who can't wrap their minds around the concept of art direction and themes. You know, those who jump to conclusions rather than assessing the situation and giving the artists a chance to convey the purpose behind their work.
I think BlackNRoses actually said it better than I can. His comment is further down on the page.
But don't take this comment personally, I kind of went off in this comment because I wanted to share my opinion on the subject. I think, sometimes the game developers should WANT to piss the gamer off, ESPECIALLY if it's the bad guys.

This is by far the best cover art. I wish more people knew about it.

Thank you. There is a bit of a buzz about it on the net. I've seen it pop up here and there, even on the Irrational Website a few times in the Alternative Cover art discussions. Kinda proud of that.

Do you still have the files for this? I can bet that if you put them up for download, many, MANY people will use yours (me included) for the cover instead of that awful one that's official.

Why thank you! I think I will just submit the original case design to use as a printable.
I saw the official cover design, and listened to Ken Levine's statements on it and there is some logic behind his choice for using the artwork he did. However, I do believe it to be an artistic and design cop-out. I don't believe he had to go to those lengths to get the game to an audience. In fact I think he should have done the exact OPPOSITE; have a phenomenal box cover designed and use it.
What many companies are losing sight of is that a series like Call Of Duty doesn't need to focus on cover design because as long as the name Call of Duty is on the cover, it'll sell. It is sad to say, but sometimes the higher ups force you into doing what you don't want because of sales, and their choice was CLEARLY a marketing department decision. I think we all can agree that the game had incredible art direction and didn't need to be subjected to marketing schemes to get fans attention in a game store.
And as a side note, Blair Harter can suck it. It's not "...a box cover."

The cover portrays the worn out ideals that plague mankind to this day, showing how important is to reflex about our vision on everyone, rather than dismissing everything but us as irrelevant. It explains why utopian ideals destroy people's dreams, by forcing them into accepting the reality a few constructed.
