Especially Megantereon. This was the sabertooth that preyed on our ancestors. isotope ratios prove it had a taste for hominids.

Megantereon did not do that. that was more of a leopard tactic. Sabertooths generally avoided bone unless fighting competitors due to risk of breakage. There was one case of a Megantereon attacking a hominid at Dmanisi in Georgia by biting it in the skull, but the attack was from above and the front, indicating the cat was attacking a hominid as a competitor rather than as prey.
