a fellow legion worlder commissioned thisi love this idea soo much, i tried a different way of coloring with this im not sure i love it.

hmm...my first real criticism is that her feminism seems to have been downplayed. This pose should be screaming with sexual and sensual energy, but it seems to be a wee bit lackluster. A view of the head tilted backward is; in my opinion, one of the hardest poses to grasp, and it seems you pulled it off adequately. However, her lips seem to be almost nonexistent. Heavier shadowing on her lower jaw would help to further express a sexy jawline and neck which is crucial for a female character. Her cleavage also requires greater shadowing to show off her breasts. Her shirt seems a bit loose, it would help to tighten it up to show off her curves. Aside from a lack of femininity and sexual energy, my only other comment is on that golden thing at their waistlines? What is it? Is he wearing it, or is she? that kind was the point i wasn't going for sexy i was going for pain. guess it doesn't come off as that huh? she is suppose dieing and pale so i tryied to down play her colors i guess..i failed epically at that. she has a gold belt on at her waist line. and he is putting his force shield belt on her while trying to hold her up

As to that unfair (by my lights and vote) critique: "Lackluster," and "lack of femininity," my arse. This is vividly sensual, even (perhaps especially) in light of his protecting her from a Kryptonite rainstorm, and having a horrified reaction as to what it's doing to her.
He loves her deeply. It ought to be obvious. This is perfectly gauged as to their facial expressions.
And anyone who doesn't realize that it's a Kryptonite downpour, countered by Brainy's force-field belt, has no business making such a "critique" as to Legion characters.
Fan art exists to embody or extend the characters created by others, and it rarely stands artistically on its own. Nor should it be expected to do so. That's not an excuse for "lower" standards, it's a recognition of differing sets of standards.
You don't make a fair critique by ignoring needed context. The above commentator does so. It's not an esthetic "offense," but it makes much of the critique overdone and needlessly harsh — especially as to "impact."

no no other version i used a bit more brush look then i normally go with and i think it makes Brainiac 5's top weird

Why is his force field belt hanging open? He can work the force fields without opening his belt. Or is he taking advantage of the situation to feel her up in his own way?

he is opening it i was going for him trying to keep her oh her feet and put the belt around the two of them.
yeah the belt works while its open. a few time no one was even weareing it and it was working.
he is not feeling her up. the original Brainiac 5 is very chivalrous borderline chauvinist. he would grope the girl of his dreams as she is dieing
she is in pain/dieing and he is worried, he is not very relaxed..nothing in the universe can invoke an emotion in Querl quite like kara in danger can

IF he got to her in time, his force field belt will protect her from the Kryptonite radiationpoisoning. Kara will only need some time to recover then. You might be able to work it where they realize they're in a sexually awkward situation after the danger has passed?

i like to think he got there just in time to save her life not stop her from intense crippling pain. and i like to think that Kryptonite radiation poisoning is not something that goes away 1.2.3.. i like thinking the radiation poisoning last a few hours. the more the Super clan is exposed to the longer it takes for them to get better. i never liked the super quick recovery. so i imagine this here as Querl being to worried about her to notice what kind of position he's in. and her in to much pain and discomfort to really say anything.
maybe when she is in a hospital like bed hours latter would she maybe tease him.
the during the last of there relationship. they were less about him attaching himself to her hip and making out every chance they could get. and a more playful comfortable with one another relationship

Have you thought about doing a drawing of them together in bed, in each others arms, in the afterglow? One would like to think they got to make love once in a while. With passions that intense they have to get used every so often so the person(s) emotionally burns out.

i dont know maybe my when it comes to kara and Querl, i like doing sweat moments you used to see in the older comics , them being attached at the arm in there down time. so again maybe??
to be fair i would have never thought of this on my own i was paid to draw this one.
dont get me wrong i do think there are days when they went at it like rabbits. as for them being super intense maybe when she first joined and he spend half of the issues declaring his love for her and begging her to stay with him in this time (i mean he gave her his force shield belt protect her in the past. to bad it didnt work once she got there). but after the great darkness saga they were less intense more relaxed, thats the kara Querl i like the most while they were still strongly and deeply in love they werent on one another all the time

yes, they were good once they especially when B5 was more relaxed around her. Showing he was growing up too on his side of the relationship. Sigh! If only Paul Levitz could have pulled it off with making Kara into Sensor Girl. Maybe we can petition him for an Elsewhere World Novel when the Emerald Empress pulls Sensor Girl's mask off it's revealed that it's Kara Zor-El the former Supergirl behind the mask. Have the story progress to show what Levitz had planned for our favorite couple.

as much as i love them together and still hope they will bring her back so they the two of them can have the happy ending
i love her death destroyed him. brainy was once a nice kind caring guy, her death made him a bit paranoid, cold hearted, a lot less tolerant. and above all when the time trapper screwed with her existence he would have done anything to get revenge for that. and when he realized what lanks he was willing to go, he quit the legion with plans to never look back.
while i still want them together. i also am a huge fan of making charters i love suffer. and nothing makes brainy suffer more then the death of the only girl he could ever love

Even if they were to get together. It doesn't mean it would be a easy trip, I imagine it would be full of all sorts of bumps, pits and bruises in the road along the way. As one old saying goes, I would rather be miserable with you than without you.

i dont think it would be to hard for them if they did end up together. there only real problem in there relationship was that she HAD to go back. i sure they would have the occasional fight. but they are very comfortable with one another they both to seam genuinely enjoy being around one another. he has eyes for no one else so she would never get jealous that way. and he doesnt seam to care that she had like four boyfriends while they sort of dated. so he obliviously wont get jealous if shes flirty. they both wouldn't crowd one another space, i think he would let her do her thing as super girl in the legion, and he has no problems letting her pull him away from work. they wouldn't have to worry about money or living problems since a) they live with the legion. and b) he makes the UP alot of money so he has to get some kick back from that. Clark didn't have an issue with them dating so family on her side is okay with them and Querl is an orphan so he doesn't have real family out side of the legion, and the legion is Aokay with them together
they are sort of perfect for one another which is why it was always so heart braking they couldn't be with together

Sigh! Too bad Paul Levitz didn't get it his way. He was hoping and planning on making them a permanent couple with Kara staying in the 31st century for good with Querl and have a family with him. In the new form of Sensor Girl. The possible stories of what their kids would face being a blend of Brainiac's and Superman's families have all sorts of potential stories right there. I can easily see Querl having a serious talk with his kid about Brainiac and his Legacy had on the Dox family and is going through their child's mind about it because he went through it himself.

i dont see that being as big of an issue for there kids while brainiac hurt the El family, it was 1000 years ago. i think Brainiac struggled with it so much Cause one of his best friends is Super boy, and he is in love with supergirl. both of their opinions ment the world to brainy and he was worried his contention would bother them. in the old comic it never bothered any one other then Brainiac 5.not the Up, not the science police hell not even the legion. so while their kid may question about it. i dont think it would be a stigma for the next dox cause their mom would be Supergirl

Stigma, only on Colu. It seems it only really matters to the Coluans, who give him a real hard time about his title and who he is related to. Offworld he gets no problems with it from people and cultures. Only his own people go out of their way to make life hard for him about it.
I can easily see him helping his child, who is learning about this for the first time, having experiened her father's people hate for her family. Having lived up to that point in an enviroment where it didn't matter. Learning what it was like for her own father to grow up in that culture. Learning for the first time just how elitist and biased "true" Coluans are for the first time. The shock of learning would be staggering to the kid. Then I can see them easily not caring about it, after adjusting and accepting it. While they will acknowledge their Coluan heritage they will embrace being a multi-world child of the UP worlds. Earth, Krypton, and Colu growing up in an enviroment of true multi-cultural diversity and people who most of the time get along, especially when it counts.
