Got suggestions from you guys on how I usually incorporate backgrounds and how I edit/apply effects for the final touch in my pieces :3 This tutorial will cover them ! I took one of my old pieces from 2014 and added a background, continues to refine and correct it and lastly, I applied various filters and effect to it to adjust the character to the background ^_^ This tutorial is recommended for artist that are familiar with creating in Photoshop(layer/adjustment function)

First of all I clarify that it is not my intention to offend you.
In four years there is no doubt that there was a great improvement, the lighting is much better, the background although it is not very detailed (understandable then, it is unimportant) is pretty, the lingerie is beautiful and I like her anatomy.
However there are also things, sometimes you use excessively the blur, the hair looks strange, not at all natural and the biggest problem is the face. The 2014 version had a captivating expression, like a queen with mischief, a whole femme fatale and I admit subjectively that is what I like most about the drawing; but, the version of 2018, looks like a fantasy princess who put on a lot of makeup.
Don't get me wrong, both pieces are beautiful for different reasons, but it can not be denied that there are details that don't go unnoticed.
Anyway, my best wishes for you and I want to see how you continue to improve.

I agree, completly. 2014 looks fantastic more than the update imo.

Huh, I feel like I commented on one of these before but I can't see the comment anywhere. maybe I dreamed I commented on it? I definitely discussed it with my friends.
I think there's no question that you've improved, technically, in the past four years, but I wanted to agree with some of the other comments on here that the 2018 version has lost some of the personality of what made the original so unique.
The original looks like an evil queen, and the frills on her costume look solid and bonelike. There's an unsettling vibe that makes me interested in her as a character. This new version looks just like all of your recent pin-ups and loses a lot of that uniqueness.

Am I petty if I say that in 4 years you learned to turn sexy armors into actual lingerie ? x)

while I like the 2018 more I wish you kept the silver eyes and didn't add pink flowers
but srsly that's amazing, 4 years made quite the big jump. Will be waiting for more :>

I really like the 2018 version^^ I don't want to critism anything in the new or old version. In my opinon they are both lovely and unique in their own ways. I think this picture isn't focusing on improvment, it shows how some changes and some editing in combination with a background can complete and refresh and old picture. sometime you didn't like an piece at the beginning but after some time when you find it again and look at it again you can see mistakes or with your knowledge that you gain over the years you can see what was missing to make this picture feel complete and finished. Or you just want to refresh an old piece so you can add some more light or a background. All in all both pictures are amazing in their own ways (everything said is just my opinion )

It sounds strange, but I like more the version of 2014, and about the new one, well ... she don't look natural. And what happened with legs? Are they crossed or twisted together? I'm sorry, but it looks odd.

Honestly, I lean more towards the mischievous, femme fatale atmosphere of the 2014 and in-progress versions. It looks kind of like a before-and-after comparison, regarding domestication. You've certainly come a long way with lighting, perspective, and backgrounds.

Her current focuses on making the flesh feel soft (because this meets the buyer habits in Patreon). If the target demographic were comics/magazines with different needs which she has worked for in the past, she'd draw whatever the client/company prefers (harder edges, defined brush strokes, cell shading, w/e).
It isn't about laziness or passion; we don't know what she draws outside of work.

Sakimi. I get what people are saying, though I feel they could be more polite about it... constructive critism is far less belittling than just critism. Now, that being said. The revision of the piece is, as you always make, gorgeous beyond words. However, I would also like to state that the previous version has more personality to it. I like the slightly evil vibe it has. The grittiness, the heavier detailing, and her expression are far more, well, expressive, than your revision. I would love to see you take a step back from just making things so pretty, and get back some of that uniqueness and feeling that the older piece seems to grasp better. Again, this is just my personal opinion, and I'm a huge fan of all your work regardless. Don't let the haters get you down and please continue putting out fantastic pieces for us to enjoy. I really wish I could find you at a convention as I'd drop my entire weekend spending limit at your booth LOL.

I like the older style more. Now all of your characters have the same face and body, just different colors. Frankly I think it’s just lazy, but hey, getting paid to do the same thing over and over must be easier than doing something new each time.

Bzukii In reply to Goku-UI [2018-07-14 08:22:08 +0000 UTC]
It's not the "truth" lmfao
Sakimichan always drew the same faces in her old art and if you can't see that then clearly you haven't been a fan long enough, She isn't lazy it's quite disrespectful for you to call her that when she's literally overworking, You are not her priority an artist has every right to develop and change into a style they love doing, It's so ANNOYING when non-artists or people with no knowledge in art always say "I like the older version" AKA the version that lacked detail in almost everything and the face, with harsh lines & dull color, If that's your personal style taste then that's fine, but this is DEVELOPMENT in knowledge & visual knowledge.
She herself has said she enjoys making risque art and if you feel that your opinion is so superior over the other 6000 PATREONS she has to pay attention to, think again and leave, I love her old art style too but you don't see me bitching and complaining to her about it because I know, people change and sometimes for the better (her current art shows major improvements in rendering clothing and her shading bodies and they have the right to, so just suck it up and move on.
"getting paid to do the same thing over and over must be easier than doing something new each time." oOF, have you not been paying attention these past 3 years? She got famous FOR DOING "the same thing over and over again" and that was drawing male-to-female or female-to-male fan art of disney characters and simply painting fanart of characters, and it's what got her from making $587 monthly on November 12 2014, to 10K monthly in December 22 2014 in such a short time, By this time now I doubt she even has the time to make projects of her own because of how her patreon count has fluctuated so quickly.
I don't want to come off as rude, and before you say "it's just my opinion" yeah it came off as stuck up and quite ignorant, next time you should actually have empathy for artists who got so popular in such a short time and have been working non-stop ever since, instead of demanding because.. opinions??

I have nothing against Sakimichan's art style. But there is something you said here which I cannot quite agree.
Artists make their art for everyone in common, not exclusively for the artistically sensible people. The non-artist people who support the artist only care about the overall feeling the arts create, not the technical detail. If a fan says they like the older style regardless of the technical developments in the newer artworks, that is a valid criticism. If it is a drawing of a lady, it is more likely that most fans are going to want the girl to look more attractive. Anything else comes second.
I'm not supporting that guy for his rude comment against Sakimichan. But her art is surely not limited to elite creatures known as artists who may find a toilet seat more attractive than a girl if it is more detailed.

Hm I think it like when an artist talented to an extreme degree like sakimichan(And your right his critique is nonsense most anime based styles and artist use a same type face for there art male and female , that just how the style works , ) When a person get some notoriety on social media, people come out the woodwork (This person isn't that good " There lazy blah blah blah ) it kinda like how someone looks at lol.. a polished blockbuster films with solid fx works even a decent story and goes man this is garbage low quality ! ! it the fact that it popular , and weirdly enough the more "polished and professional " something is the more a group of hater will come along and say it's trash (Maybe it jealously I don't know, I think we are conditioned to have a low opinion of anything deemed Entertainment our of some weird shame )and by being popular means it bad , while before the artist was seen as something 'personal" and something Niche they saw it in a more positive light , now that it popular lol. they start to hate it . And it like ... it seems like people think Artist are there personal guru lol or religious advisor /role model with there art and they owe them something , very weird social media cults that develop. and most people don't respect like the craft of art . like if you told someone you where doctor , or you repair cars (There like yeah that a great job must of took skill ) ? art it like (Man I can do better than that , I bet they used Photoshop ! LoL).we got a culturally bad habit of just shitting on artisan and craftsmen .

yeah they start seeing an artist as some kinda religious guru that works for free if they become popular enough and have a lol whole beliefs systems built around that artist art ,but still refuse to pay them xD or there just really stingy people I notice for all the complains only a tiny fraction of the people that follow an artist will invest anymore .but like they feel entitled that an artist just draw just for them .

As many people pointed out the fact before Im gonna day that again. Latest Sakimi art in the last months is MILES worse than they good old Golden days. These days she blurs everything, I mean it’s so lazy everyone sees that. Take soft brush, draw in the zones and then erase on the contours. DONE. Anyone with eyes can tell she reeeealy especially the last 2-3 months, it’s just pure crap comparing to her art in 2013-2016 such as Elsa, Milan, DC girls. Hell, even her art in the last year such as Overwatch was WAAY better than what the hell she is doing now. I hope she will get better pass through this “blurry” phase.
