A drop bear (or dropbear) is a fictional Australian marsupial commonly said to be an unusually large, vicious, carnivorous koala that inhabit treetops and attack its prey by dropping onto their heads from above. An actual Australian told me that the dropbear thing started when a Koala accidentally fell off it's tree and landed on the head of this one early explorer guy.
