A mock-up of a style I would like to see being used in Windows 8.I just wanted to express my views on the future of Windows, and since I found this wonderful contest, I decided there couldn't be a better way to share my ideas...

Changes I would like to see in Windows 8:
1. Do away with AeroGlass! I would really like to see a different view on the use of transparency - there should be a greater degree of window opacity.
2. Bring in a black and grey carbon-themed skin.
3. Make the Start Menu feature a cut-down version of Explorer to allow you to actually "start" directly with your files.
4. Improve the logon screen.
5. Separate the permanent elements of the taskbar and the open windows into two separate bars.
6. Make the more common buttons simple to access.
7. Add transparency to inactive windows in order to bring focus onto active ones.
What I would like to be kept the same:
1. Keep the Window switching method in Windows 7, but use names instead of icons.
2. Keep Flip3D (though I hardly use it any more
)3. Maintain the stability and the performance speeds experienced in Windows 7 (which is now my primary OS).

a few Microsoft "touch-up's" like the start button and lil things here and there, and this would be the best thing to happen since powerded sugar!

Hey man, I have been looking for themes for Win7...
Now i kinnda feel dissapointed cos i already found the one i like.... if you ever make this inot a theme give me a shout.

Wow, the final version is amazing. "Go" instead of "Start" is a nice touch

hmm... i could make some application in Visual Studio 2008 for the upper taskbar. As far as the skinning goes, there needs to be a WindowBlinds for 7 and someone who can help me skin with it... I just hope I get a chance to turn this into an actual theme...

Thank you... Glad you liked it... Wait until I upload the final version tomorrow (it has a new Start Menu, a Login Screen, as well a few basic "gadgets")

The only thing that i don't like is the shadow, the edge of the elements (the bar on the bottom & the window) are not clearly defined, cause the shadow is too big and too dark, I suggested a little white stroke to mark where the elements end, and a more clear shadow
By the way, i like a lot the bottom bar

Hmm... It might seem to look like that to you right now, but you won't think so when I'm finished. And besides, since I am doing a complete overhaul of the Windows environment, there are bound to be similarites with other operating systems. So, the Start Menu will be more than just a "menu", and the login screen will be more of a gallery than anything else...
