Description It seems that people seem to think they are entitled to requests from some people, which is why I'm closing requests all together.
It shocks me how some people seem to find it so hard to show even the slightest respect or even show basic manners, to someone who (they don't know) is drawing them something for free and wasting hours of their life doing so. I will not name names but a lot of people do it.
Is it really that hard?
I made some simple rules for requesting without coming across as annoying or rude.
1. You are not entitled to requests from people.
No. You're not. Asking for requests is fine, if the artist said they accept them or if they have offered before. Asking for a request from something who said they don't is just plain rude. I currently have my requests under ''Close friends'', which means, either you have to know me or talk to me regularly (talking to me, to beg for things doesn't count) on DeviantART for a while, talk to my personal accounts on other sites, be real life friend.
If you don't know anything about me (my name, country I live in, my sexuality/gender/beliefs, my pets/siblings or likes/dislikes) and I don't know anything about you and we've never talked, we're probably (and by probably, I mean definitely) not Close friends.
I'm changing this to closed  because of this. Stop asking.
Also, please don't get angry if they person doesn't feel comfortable with drawing fetish art, yoai/yuri or other types of art. It can be a bummer but denying you art because they aren't comfortable with drawing gay sex isn't always homophobia, refusing to draw fetish art isn't always anti-fetish and refusing to draw work which quotes a religion is not always anti-theist. Some people just don't want to be involved in sexual art or don't want to post things about political things and beliefs.
Although, asking for requests of Cool CatXCool Cat while Cool Cat quotes the bible is an exception to the rule.

2. You are not entitled to me fixing errors with a request.
I will happily fix commissions, art trades and collabs but requests are free and a good 50% of the time they don't supply you with a good ref to spot minor details from and some people don't have any images of that character at all. If I get one minor marking on your OC wrong and the reference showed it, I'm sorry. I'm still not spending another hour fixing every single frame for something I did for free and you probably didn't even say please or thank you for and probably won't favourite or use. Criticism on piece is different, I appreciate it but asking me to fix it because of mistake is really rude.

3. You are not entitled to having it posted and made quickly.
Remember, you're getting it for free. They don't owe you anything. Asking if they still are going to post it, it fine but be very careful how you ask that question. It's not okay to say ''Is my request done yet?! You're taking for ever!''. Artists do have other work and other things to do in real life, they aren't devoted to you, they are people.
It's even worse if you ask for a second request and say ''You better get it done faster, this time.'' and still expect them to do it.
The only person who would ever get away with that kind of behaviour my twin sister and that's because she's joking and I know her well enough to know that (and she's lightly to  indirectly or directly repay the favour sometime later on), I can't pick up sarcasm from text.
Also, the artist made the piece, unless you stated before hand that you didn't/did want to post it or asked, the artist owns the picture, they can do what they want with it and post it where they want. If you want it, pay for a commission instead.

4. Be at least a little bit polite.
Believe or not ''Thank you'' and maybe a little compliment or at least observation in the drawing, can mean a lot. It helps the artist grow and shows you actually care about what the artist made. It can help with confidence and cheer someone up.
A favourite, a share, watching the artist or maybe proudly displaying it on your page (if the artist is okay with it) or at least looking at it can help too.
Please, although not as powerful would also be appreciated.
Show you give at least a little bit of shit.

5. If someone declines a request, don't get upset with them.
''Okay, thanks anyway''. That's all you have to say. That's it.
Please, don't be that person who puts up a call out journal calling someone a bully because they said no.
Please don't block them or insult them either.
Please refer to rule 1 if you want to know why.

If you follow these rules. Cool cat loves you baby.

blubasaur too.

Lately I've been getting more and more angry with the amount of people who want me to fix certain mistakes on their requests whether it be something like (it's supposed to be a darker color even though the reference they gave you was light colored XD) Or...(You forgot a tiny somewhat unnoticeable accessory on the character)....It's like....I take hours out of my day to do this stuff and this is the thanks I get. I'm kinda glad I'm putting free requests behind me.

When people do that, part of me wants to either delete the picture of fix the mistake but make 10 more mistakes, just to mess with them.
I don't, though, I kind of wish I could do that but that would just as rude as they are.
Especially when they do worse things like specifically go out of their way to ask for a complex accessory for a 20X30 pixel image and when you reject them because you know you it won't fit. So they beg until you agree but when you post it they ask you to take it away because it doesn't look nice.

It makes me feel so much better to know that people have gone through exactly what I've gone through! But it sounds like you have it way worse----how can people ask for complex accesories in a small image!?! It's madness!!! But the people who have been kind are so so awesome--the people who don't point out the mistake I've made and allow me to come to my own conclusion are the one's I love to redo....I like making people happy...as long as they aren't jerks XD!

What's worse is that people who don't even follow you just ask for a request without reading the art status too.....

I undestand you , but I want you to undestant my rules too please (Yes. I have rules before "buying" a commision or request)
1. I'm ordering only free request. In my country points are very expencive. And I have my personal opinion about points forbids me to buy them.
2. If you decilne my request , at least say why.
3. Give me some time , before I decide to "buy"request from you
4. No fetish , anti-christian or other weird stuff. - That's my main rule. I hate that stuff much.
5. My gore acceptance have limits. Try to remember that when doing something gore to me.

Yeah, I get it. Not everyone has money and can't afford commissions. I have no problem with free requests, I actually like doing them. My main problem is when someone isn't polite when requesting stuff.
And declining a request for no reason (unless you have it written that said they ''don't do requests.'' for anyone, the person shouldn't be asking if they say they don't do them) isn't the best way to handle things. If someone asked me to make them a racist, homophobic or offensive commission, I would explain I don't want to post offensive things, I don't agree with.

(Also, when I say ''requests'' I mean ''free requests''. Requests that you buy or pay for are called ''commissions''. Just in case you are confused.)
