Talisman of Alpha Flight for Daily Sketch Challenge.Haven't done anything lately, so I thought I'd do a DSC joint.

I had dropped Alpha Flight after Guardian got fried by his suit's battery, so I missed her debut. Nice pic, though.

yeah, in interviews, Byrne talks a lot about the need for change (or at least the illusion of change) in comics to keep them fresh.

yeah, me too. It was actually Byrne who got me into indie comics. After reading his comic Next Men, I saw the potential of superheroes beyond what Marvel and DC was doing. Even when they have good creative teams, they are really hamstrung by the need to maintain their icons.
Look how much better Invincible is than Superman... it's mostly because anything can happen.

amazing stuff!!! i LOVE your shading and shapes, especially her hand and the shadows across her fingers. the silhouette of her left leg & foot is killer.

Sometimes,I'm scared to leave a silhouette alone, even though I like it. Working on drawings with a time limit sometimes encourages me to keep it simple.
