Description
For a contest hosted by Shilin on Talent Call: [link]"The title being almost exactly what the title of the competition is is not on accident. This image was actually the first thing that came to mind when I saw the theme and I went with it. Calling it anything else just feels wrong!
Anyway, just a general "in awe" moment. One of those "stop and smell the roses" type deal. Whenever I travel, I always love just stopping and looking around. It's those tiny details that make the world great."
Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with it. All that strugglin' paid off, I feel. I learned a lot and even though it's not gonna win, I did my best.
Thanks to everyone who helped me and critiqued it along the way (especially Alex and Ixyra)
Feel free to download to see the details. (It's 1/5 the actual size x'D)

The background (sun/moon and water) seem drastically plain compared to the rest of the image, but overall this is very nice. Keep up the great work!

Yeah, I wasn't sure what else to do to the sun/sky to have it more detailed. The water was the last thing I had to do so that was a combination of lazy and the time constraint xD Thank you though!

I like this! Especially the concept, with the character with the back to us, so you can imagine being her, it captures the feeling of entering a world. And the way she holds her sword looks excellent, a nice little detail. I really like the hair, too, and the roots coming off from the islands, and the sharp look of the dirt. I really like the dirt. Also nice sense of wind.
I think you might should consider choosing colours a bit more carefully, though. Trying to keep a scheme will make the piece come together more. Adding a bit of the cape's red to the rocks and the dragon and the blue to the grass, ect. and just don't add a colour that is only one place on the piece. If you want a red dragon, then maybe some red flowers? Reddish rocks poking out of the dirt? I found it quite shocking how much difference it does. It have helped me, and I think it could take your works a step forward :3 (I usually paint down colour blobs of what I want to have where, and then begin detailling when all colours are somewhat evenly over the piece. It's of course a matter of what you like, but you could try if you feel like it.) But it's a good piece, and you can see that you put a lot of work into it. It's wonderful to see a big digital drawing from you, with background and all. Good job, and good luck!

Thank you :'D I'm really glad you like the dirt. That was the hardest part to do and I worked my butt off on it and now everything else pales in comparison LOL.
Thank you ლ(ಠ益ಠლ) Omg that was bugging the crap out of me and you worded how to fix it so perfectly <333 I will definitely try to do that (baring I remember) in future stuff. Hopefully I'll start doing bigger stuff like this more often It was a fun challenge

It looks excellent, I tink it's the thing I like the best ^^ Ahaha, I know that. It's how I feel with the piece of Melanie, her hair looks so good that everything else just looks rushed!
You're most welcome (omg, most epic smiley ever) When I found a tutorial that told me about it and I tried it out, I was like Y U NO TELL ME BEFORE?!
I hope you will, bigger works with backgrounds tell a story in a whole other way than other works ^^ I need to try out the opposite thing, though ...
