Super cool!Β
You make it look so easy, even though I'm sure it's not ; v ;

LOVELY. No really, I cannot begin to describe how beautiful the finished product is. Thank you so much for sharing this speedpaint. It helps a lot when trying to find an orientation for a good way to draw digitally.

I adore this video so much. Thank you for the speed paint. I really adore your colours and colour harmony! I also love how you get the colours to blend into each other so naturally, and how you get them to pop. Your art is always so beautiful, whether in linework or in colours. I love this series. I suspect you're very busy with other projects, but I'd love to see more whenever the urge strikes you again.

I've been trying to watch it to improve my own colours and shading but it's not working. I'm just getting despondent with my own lack of skills. D'X

If I had the money I'd support you on patreon, if only to try and get some resources to try and improve.

I'm so frustrated and angry at my art right now X'D *sobbing*

Could you explain what you're doing here to add that colour variation? It's something I really struggle to do in my own work so learning a post-painting technique would be very useful!

I've duplicated my original painting layer for the skin several times and made several different variants of it depending on what I wanted. I masked them off and then painted each of the variants in using masks where I want those variations to appear. Hope that helps!

Definitely, thanks I've seen a similar technique used to create quick lighting in concept art but I didn't think to use it for colour variation - Is it something you use often and do you merge it with the original skin layer once you're happy?

It's not something I do very often in my normal works but it is something I use quite often with adoptables I generally do not merge these layers after in case I want to keep editing them.

About 5 hours of painting

Stunning work!! Very interesting to see! Β
I always wonder though, how do you know when to make a new layer and for what? How do you organize that in your head? Always curious XD
I want to be able paint like that one day. Keep up the great work!

sambees In reply to NightWoven [2017-03-23 06:39:49 +0000 UTC]

when I'm satisfied with what I have, I merge the painting layer into the base layer and make a new painting layer, that way if I mess up and have to erase it, the stuff I do like is fine. Rinse and repeat!
