1992 Mazda MX-5 Miata

First generation Miata. Hard to believe that the Miata has been around for just around twenty years, or that it was ten years between the fall of the British roadster in 1980 and the rise of the Miata in 1990.

The only thing wrong with the Miata is that it killed the Alfa Romeo Spider by being better than it at everything (except looks) for quite a bit less money.

The Miata seems to have survived its latest challenge, the Pontiac Solstice / Saturn Sky. I'm not sure if Penske will continue with the Sky (and supply the Russo-Canadian new owners of Opel with the Opel GT version of the Sky), but Pontiac goes away in a year or two.
