Description A tragic but more satisfactory ending to Season Two, and to Code Lyoko in general.

The premise is that, when Jeremy finds Aelita's lifeless body beside the switch to the supercomputer, it is very cold. When he revives her by switching the supercomputer back on and by holding her close to him to warm her up, she lets him know that she has not merely switched off the supercomputer, she has ruptured the cooling system as well. Jeremy realises that there is nothing he can do to stop the power source from blowing up, yet he tries to get Aelita out anyway. Aelita revives fully halfway through his attempt to drag her out and runs out alongside him. The power source explodes just after they reach the other end of the bridge, taking out the supercomputer and the factory with it.

XANA is destroyed. Aelita is dead. The world is safer. Jeremy's world is devastated.

Very sad...very powerful though. You've really infused alot of emotion into this picture, particularly in Jeremie's pose and expression. It's really beautiful, even if it is tragic.

I always wondered though...wouldn't Aelita's death cause them trouble in the real world? She'd been living there and attending school, so if she were to die, wouldn't the school try calling her "parents" (or guardians, as Odd's "cousin")...that wouldn't end too well...and with the computer gone they wouldn't be able to RTTP and undo her "existence" on Earth...

Rats...they can't win can they?

Either way though, this is a fantastic piece!

Thank you! The scream to the high heavens is probably a clichΓ©, but sometimes clichΓ©s work, I guess. Most of us have been there, or at the very least have had the shuddering thought of something that could happen that would send us there.

As to the explanations afterward, I hadn't really thought of that, but I had thought of something else that could be expanded into an explanation to the school and the authorities. Whether it would be a *satisfactory* explanation or not is another matter...

I was thinking of not saying what that was in case I were to write this as a fanfic, but that might never happen, so here it is: The authorities find on Aelita's desk in her room at school a long document called "The Last Will and Testament of Aelita Hopper, alias Aelita Stones" It would not tell them everything, but it would tell them everything she could remember.

The only member of Team Lyoko who would have enough foresight to prepare for the possibility of Aelita's death would be Aelita herself.

(OTOH, shouldn't the Principal have contacted Aelita's guardians when she was dying in "Common Interest"?)

Thanks again!

Good point! I would have thought the Principal would have tried to contact her guardians in "Common Interest"...but he must not have since they didn't RTTP and no one seemed the wiser afterward. Then again...the Principal didn't seem to concerned when the ambulance drove itself off with Jeremie inside it in "Temptation"...so maybe he has issues with the hospital service.

Either way though, that explanation works rather well. Team Lyoko likely wouldn't get into so much trouble afterwards if Aelita thoroughly explained what had happened and for what reasons it was done. It might not fix everything but it would fix some of it.

This really would make an awesome fanfic though! You should definitely write it sometime! Your fanfics are always awesome! .Sorry I made you reveal some of your plot though....oops... *sweatdrop*

You're very welcome! I rather like the scream cliche though, as it's exceedingly emotional. And that's very true that most have either felt like that or been close to doing so.

Just so long as Jeremie is not shouting out, "STELLA!!!" ^^

*Pokes* you should totally write that into a fanfic. It was be awesome, and definitly a tearjerker too. ^^

Anywhoo..That's so sad! Jeremie's facial expression makes me want to cry (In a good way, I assure you ^_^).

I should indeed; I should probably watch "The Key" again and find out exactly where the jump-off point is...

Actually, that's the problem. "The Key" annoys me, so I really don't want to watch it again.

When I first scanned this, I realized that I needed to rework the picture because Jeremy's expression looked ambiguous, as if he could either be mourning or laughing maniacally. I changed the shape of the mouth and added the tears to try to minimize the possibility of the second meaning, then I scanned it again. Thanks for letting me know that it worked!

Noice story but sad, and also great job with the art.

Oops! I forgot!

Thanks!

I don't want Aelita to die either, but if it's a choice between her death and XANA's freedom, well, see the picture above...

As opposed to XANA escaping into the real world to wreak who knows what havoc?

Aelita had the right idea, IMO. The cost of her life and freedom was too great. The only way to stop XANA was to shut the computer down.
