O.K., within the last two weeks I read about two interesting illustrated stories (comics used to be the generic term but I get the feeling that manga fans do not want manga being called comics... ). One of these is the Marvel comic The Punisher, about an assassin/serial killer who targets criminals, and the other, which is about as far as one can get from The Punisher, is Azumanga Daioh, a rather wacky manga which sort of reminds me of Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes, Saved by the Bell and Archie, but mostly with teenage girls, and with even more strangeness than Calvin and Hobbes .

So, just as the idea of drawing Aelita in The Punisher's current costume came to me, so did this: Sakaki from Azumanga Daioh in The Punisher's original costume. While Sakaki isn't the least likely character in AD to be like The Punisher (because Chiyo is...), I just had the rather Kimura-ish idea that Sakaki would look the most *ahem* interesting in it...

This is not my first attempt to draw a manga/anime character (I have a drawing of Conan Edogawa in my scraps), but it was my first attempt to get the eyes right. Yes, I know, I failed.
