Totally true. That's why I don't like dogs and are iffy around dog owners. Because dogs -need- to have a pack leader and -need- to obey. Cats are independent and have so many different personalities and quirks. They choose when they want love from you, and it's very rewarding to have a cat's love.

This is blunt but I'm gonna give you a big "no" on that judgemental statement. You don't get a dog because you want to control something, you get a dog because you like dogs. They just happen to be loyal creatures and will look up to you for that if you treat them right. It is not wrong to allow an animal to live the type of relationship that it desires. Are you saying dogs should be denied their nature?
Also I'm not a big fan of cats, but every one I encounter wants to snuggle me, so ehh.

Uh, what exactly are you saying "no" to? I'm saying, I don't like the nature of dogs, an animal that needs to be controlled. A dog doesn't "desire" to obey, it needs to obey, as is it's nature and instinct. If the owner is not the pack leader, then the dog becomes the pack leader, which leads to a badly behaved dog. You're free to like dogs, I'm giving my opinion mixed with facts.

That's the key there, your "opinions", be careful you don't treat people wrong because of them. Why be "iffy" around dog owners? Judging them on that alone is very misguided.
So again, don't conflate an animals nature with an owners character. You can want a dog for reasons other than wanting to control it, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with allowing a dog to be lead by you.
Plenty of cat owners also train them and order them around, which isn't wrong, just showing the fallacy of judging someones character based on their pet choice.

Yes, cats can be taught to not jump on things, or scratch the couch, that has nothing to do with a dog's need to obey, and the fact that dogs and cats are complete opposites, much like their owners. You can't order a cat to do something, it does it of it's own free will, unlike a dog, who is not unlike a slave to it's master, that blindly obeys. I LOVE cats but my current boyfriend is allergic D: I had to make the super hard choice between risking his health/life and giving up my cats to my parents. I chose him, which was hard, but we're super happy together and I don't regret it < 3

of course!!! health is another matter entirely! my ex boyfriend was also highly allergic to cats but he loved them anyways
but allergies are a really strong health problem,at least your cats are safe with your family and you can see them whenever you want!
