I'll try to critique this as a ProjectComment thing.
Very well drawn. The lineart is clean and the shading is very well done too.
First of all, the entire picture is a tad too dark. It's hard to spot the beholder. The beholder also has the same colour scheme as the background, so it doesn't stand out well. You could try drawing it imagining that the light source is in the front, or at least increase the contrast with the background, like a lighter background.
Visibility aside, the front angle is also a bit plain. Try changing the angle a little bit. I think to increase the fear in the artwork you could try lowering the angle and probably shifting it a bit to the right or left.
I also find the colours in the background a little hazy. Try making the lineart a little clearer for that.
The beholder itself though- is amazing. It's gruesome, it's scary. One point I'd like to add, and I may be wrong as I haven't played D&D- is that the number of the eye things is less, and they are also a little less twisted and messy than the images I searched up. You could try bending the eye things more.
I guess that's it from me. All said and done, it's really good, and I look forward to what you can do in the future!

Very nice. I like how the lair seems different from the typical Beholder lair in a volcano

Thanks <3
And its different for a reason. My players avoided the volcano incase of a beholder (there were rumours of one but no information as to where.) they chose to explore a cave they saw a kobalt run into instead ....

The mindflayer version of this thing is pure hell to deal with in a game.

I know right! I've homebrewed my beholder and his encounter to be hell if you don't play your cards right. Maybe I'll draw more dnd stuff in the future lmao

Oh man I love D&D !!!! This is so cool man you're so talented~ As a DM I totally envy you for being able to talk about future events in your game - one of my players watches me on DA and the others sometime visit my page so I can't have any spoilers on it hahah

Thank you mate! Mean a lot
And yeah, being able to draw for your campaign is awesome but the chance of them finding it and spoiling it accidentally for themselves is risky dude.

Nice job on this, seriously! I've always loved beholders -- so completely divorced from classic mythology. And this one is really well done, especially the texture and lighting effects.

Had to search up what they were lmao
And I guess langoliers do indeed resemble Beholders. Maybe Steven King used the beholder as inspiration. Who knows?

Or vice versa, either way.
