It's beautiful...! What paper do you use? Do you have any tips on doing gradient effects? Because I tend to lose control with water when trying to do background. Please share them with me~~

Thanks C. I usually use Saunders & Waterford 300g Rough, High White paper but also Arches Bright White version of paper seems to be interesting.
Yes gradients are hard work to do. A smooth and right size of brush is important. In this painting I made the center tone first with the mixture of orange and yellow ochre. Before it gets dry I made blue sky gradient with Ultramarine blue and mixed them together. It is important to control how wet the both colors are. If the blue is too wet the color blends over the center area and the painting is going to get dull.
After that i made the foreground tone. Good gradients inspire the whole work and bind the painting together

Thank you very much! So the first layer determines the overall tone of the painting. Do you think pens and ink work on such rough paper? Or do I just strengthen the pencil outline?

Maybe it is better to use less rough paper with pens.
