ok, here's my first tutorial... i hope it's of some help to at least some people = =;;; i dont know if its actually helpful...or if it even makes sense.anyway, this is a basic guide to the brushes i use. ( 3 only haha) and some general tips at the end.

how come ur brush is not hard on both ends? when i use photoshop all my brushes are hard on the sides...but urs seem to fade on both sides...
how do you do that?

Nice Tutorial, personally I would have liked a little more clarification about going from lineart to base to highlight to detail. Its a little ambigious about each layer. Like, is the lineart and basecolors on same layer; or was base done under line art and the 2 merged? Also I think a little bit more detail about the "clean up the outlines and highlight" would be nice. I collect tutorials so this is perfect for me to learn from, but I know that other people could use the clarification.

You probably already know this kind of shading - sometimes it looks cool to use cold colors for shadows and warm colors for lights. for skin it would be orange-ish for light and purple tones for shadows. :3
Skin can contain all 3 colors blue green and red, because thats what its made of.

Just finished proofing the Rage sheet for Fenris - I'm so glad you managed to do such fantastic work for such an awkward concept, so I had to look at your other stuff. I've already proven that I don't have the right skills to be an artist, but clearly I don't have the right tools either! Still, I love learning about things on the periphery of my interests so thank you for such a great tutorial.

Lovely! Thanks a lot for this tutorial, inspired me to start working with a tablet a bit more 'cause right now I absolutely suck and my only hope is traditional art. One question - Do you just paint on top of the sketch and leave it there or do you delete the layer with the sketch on it afterwards?
