Description
Been a while since I've been here. Dropping off a Gouf Ignited (Gundam Seed Destiny). Got loads of "Gundam" suits but not much on regular mobile suits. Stuff needs to explode and so here's one that should. The full image is wider but I planned to use it in the website when it gets finished so I cut it down. The mass produced versions are a Blue based, but this one is a "custom" Orange color.
This mesh is based off of a small plastic model of the same name. The layout remains very similar to the original but some parts (arms and legs especially) are restyled. The arms bear a passing resmblence to the Zaku F2 and Gouf Custom while the lower legs are widened and have an extra booster in the inner part of the leg. The skeleton is based mostly off of the Zaku F2.
Software: Lightwave 3d(Modelling,Rendering), Photoshop (UV textures, planar textures, post process).
PS: The sword was supposed to render brighter.... I'll figure that one out.

I still love your work!
I was going to ask if you had planning on make a Mass Production version, but they're in the back ground. So what about the Commander's version?

I'm fairly sure that the Gouf's in the SEED DESTINY series didn't feature "Commander" versions. They were all basically the same - though some had custom colors.

I'm not sure, but I think the commanders colors are white like Yzak's Gouf.

I'm pretty sure Yzak had a customized Blaze ZAKU Phantom.

If you're that adament about it I'll check. Keep in mind GOUFs and ZAKUs do look similar, as Ramba Ral and Heine Westenfluss illustrated at one point: "This is no ordinary ZAKU!"

OH-HO! I stand corrected my friend! It is a GOUF!!
Y'see, I like people like you. Instead of dragging this into a pointless flame war (not that we were gonna, I'm just saying 'cause a less intelligent person would've) you put in the time & effort to show that you have proof to back up your claim. I respect people like you!!

Thanks. For some reason when it comes to Gundam I've never flamed.
Even though you didn't seem like you would, I was kinda scared you'd end up flaming me!

I "flame" only in the act of self-defense and only against those who are poor in character and downright ignorant. I generally take a peaceful, neutral position even in the most tense situations, never losing perspective... mostly. Besides you seem like a nice guy anyway.

A brighter blade render? I dunno...this one looks alright. Well, if you feel the need to, we can't stop you from trying it out. In fact, we'd all like to see it.

Hey Sandrum,
Maximum respect!!
Those models are really breathtaking! I am lost for words!
I was so impressed by your gallery of rendered images, that I signed up here just to say how impressed I am with your skills.
I am curious.... What is your average time frame for completeing a model, including the materials, logos, rendering...
Cos I work/play with 'Solidworks' and constructing something like those models would take a VERY long time, since it is more of an engineering package and curves and forms are difficult to create (Need loads of sketches and guide curves for simpleorganic forms)
I see the new 2007 Solidworks (Installed yesterday) has come with a surface modelling feature 'Freeform', but is still not a simple tool to use.
Do you do it for the fun of it, or are you being commissioned to model them? Or do you at least sell them, to get some reward for all the effort you put in?
OK, the note is long enough
Good luck with the rest of your projects!
WOW!

Preview:Wow! Thank you! I'm flattered!
You've got some tough questions though. As far as average time, that average gets thrown off if whatever-it-is I'm going for has a lot of stuff that comes with it. But I guess if you could boil it down to standard machine/shield/weapon, then it would be whatever free-time I can find within the span of about 2 weeks. I think the longest I ever took was the span of 3 months and the shortest was a time frame of within 4 days... but less than that if I'm just converting one mesh to another (the gm to the Rx-78 Gundam for example). I worked with AutoCAD over 10 years ago and I thought it was pretty good for architecture and engineering but I can't imagine using any sort of CAD program with the same degree of freedom that non-engineering packages can give (though with trade-offs). If Solidworks is anything similar to CAD, it's got to be a headache in that area.
For now, it's all for the fun of it. Kind of gives me a high when I finish one of these. Though animation is the ultimate goal, I haven't been able to get my workstation free from the modeling aspect -- just so many to do. I did do some commissioning work in the past, but all that is pretty much over. The reward is a job well done....I guess

Greetings to your side of the world, Ivan!
Wow, I have not been here (Deviantart) in a while, and wanted to check up on how your modelling has been going. I forgot what the address was a while ago and have randomly searched for your images, and finally today managed to locate it
I had formatted my computer since my last post and lost all my favourites list, and had no idea where to start
Oh well. c'est la vie!
How are things your side of the world? What do you do as your full time work, if modelling gundams is done in your part time?
Anyways, I will keep searching the site for more of your works... if you still posting
Cool cool,
will chat again sometime,
Gio

*drools* This is the best Gouf Ignited pic that I have ever seen, tho coming from you I expected as much ^^
I had become bored with the Gouf over time, reused som many times. I never thought that a few new cool weapons in destiny would bring it back as a great ms in my mind. But it did, and I find myself worshipping this pic.

Yea, Bad guys! I've alway liked the Zakus, there a cool looking mech. I like the custom One you made here, orange is a great color for him. The orange makes me think of fire, and the pilot is burning for battle. Great Pic.

Goufs are so badass! Although, I'm a bit bummed that SEED stole them from the classic Gundam. Usually the new series make their own. Oh well. The burning lighting effects are spectacular.

Yeah, there's just something boring about flat out stealing a design and reusing it in a different series. I love goufs though

The dynamic perspective and the detail on the mechs are really nice, and brings out the 'coolness' in them. Of course, Zaku style models are already cool in their own right anyway.

Definately Blue when mass produced. I'm not sure of the odds of seeing in on Cable TV in the US as I haven't heard of any networks picking up the show. I hear tale that YTV in Canada has picked it up however.
