*Goes through her huge stash of unfinished + unpublished fanfics*... Welp, it looks like my no. 1 shipping dynamic is indeed bold optimist + reclusive pessimist (or otherwise more serious, down-to-earth character). Bonus points if they're rivals in their actual canon OR they end up arguing over something.
Hell, I actually LIKE to write arguments, for some reason. And they're not about romantic relationships (like 90% of the time they're not). Instead, my fanfic arguments usually concern different ideals and personal weaknesses. And even with the comforting part, they usually just pat the other character on the shoulder, give hugs at most. Guess I just enjoy forcing characters to bond spiritually through rather, uh, furious conversations 
Up next on the preference list would be dumbass + their less dumbass partner and finally, the best friends combo. But the happy optimist + serious pessimist (or realist) combo... looks like it's THE OTP of my all OTPs

Bold Optimist and Reclusive Pessimist reminds me of my parents. Lol No, seriously, my mother's like an optimistic extrovert(or at least an ambivert) while my dad is more of an introvert and acts more pessimistic. They really are a case of opposites attracting.
